TVS Motor launched the Ntorq 150 last year and positioned it as a sporty scooter above the Ntorq 125 with an air-cooled engine. However, enthusiasts and potential audiences were expecting the Ntorq platform to go a step further. A step up in engine technology as well as a step up in terms of performance and engine refinement.
To put it briefly, a maxi-scooter with a liquid-cooled engine and wind protection for highway use. A maxi-scooter with 14-inch or even larger wheels to take on rivals like the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Zoom 160 (which launched later). According to recent reports, TVS Motors seems to be doing the same with the upcoming 160cc Ntorq scooter.
New TVS Ntorq 160 Maxi Scooter
After the launch of Ntorq 150, TVS Motors seems to be working on a new and bigger scooter. Bigger in terms of engine displacement and bigger in terms of size and dimensions. That’s because this upcoming large displacement scooter from TVS is reportedly a 160cc maxi scooter that will take on rivals like the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Zoom 160.

According to recent reports, this upcoming 160cc maxi scooter from TVS should probably be ready by next year. The company is preparing this maxi scooter to cater to the needs of premium scooter buyers who are looking for a step up from the existing offering with an air-cooled engine. In comparison, the Ntorq 150 seems like an upgraded Ntorq 125, nothing more.
This premium scooter segment is also seeing high demand and even India’s best-selling scooter manufacturer Honda is speculated to enter this segment with the ADV 160. Yamaha is also expected to launch the NMax 155 scooter in India, which is a maxi scooter compared to the Aerox 155, which is more of a sporty/maxi scooter.
TVS Motors could take a number of design directions here, but there’s a good chance that they will follow the broader Ntorq design language which is sporty and attractive. There may be optimal wind protection for highway touring as we see in the Hero Zoom 160.

what to expect?
Additionally, TVS will have to decide whether to go for the central spine or not. We say this because TVS Motors has already been a leader in scooter packaging in the Jupiter by offering a fuel tank behind the apron, large storage unlocked under the seat and then a flat floorboard for practicality. A 14-inch scooter platform with a long wheelbase is also expected.
We wish TVS Motors would break the stereotype of touchscreen clusters being limited only to mainstream electric scooters. The RTX 300 was already the perfect candidate to feature a glove-compatible touchscreen cluster with 4G and HERE Maps, but sadly that’s not the case. We wish TVS also offered a dashcam and dual headlights with switchable color temperatures (white, yellow).
Additionally, a boot deep enough to accommodate fancy full-face helmets would be a nice feature to attract enthusiasts. The rear disc brake will also be much appreciated by the community. No spy shots of TVS’s upcoming 160cc maxi scooter have been leaked yet, which may change soon.
