At a time when many OEMs have announced price hikes, the price cut is a pleasant surprise

Hero launched the Canvas Black Edition of HF Deluxe in June 2023 for Rs 60,760. Since then the prices have been increased several times. Before this price cut, the HF Deluxe Canvas Black was available at a starting price of Rs 67,634. Hero has now reduced the price of this variant by Rs 7,635. The HF Deluxe Canvas Black is now available for Rs 59,999, which is lower than its original 2023 launch price.

Offer applicable in four states

Although the price cut of Rs 7,635 is significant, this offer is not available across India. Only four states get its benefit – Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. It is not certain whether this offer will be extended to other states also. With the price cut, the HF Deluxe is expected to see a positive growth in sales in the coming months.

Most of the features and equipment remain the same. The HF Deluxe Canvas Black is powered by a 97.2cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that generates 7.8 PS and 8.05 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 4-speed gearbox. Key features include a strong tubular double cradle frame, telescopic front forks, dual rear shock absorbers and drum brakes at both ends.

Why the price cut?

Hero has not given the reason behind such a huge cut. However, the move comes at a time when competition remains intense in the entry-level commuter motorcycle segment. The HF Deluxe competes with models like the Honda Shine 100, Bajaj Platina 100 and TVS Sport, all of which continue to attract value-conscious buyers. By bringing down the Canvas Black edition from its original launch price, Hero is making the edition more accessible while improving its value proposition in one of the most price-sensitive motorcycle segments of India.

HF Deluxe sales performance

Hero HF Deluxe consistently remains in the top 10 list of best selling bikes in the country. However, sales in recent months have been a bit worrying. Sales of HF Deluxe in March 2026 were 85,088 units. This is a negative growth of -7.33% compared to 91,821 units sold in March last year. Sales increased to 91,977 units in April 2026, registering a strong growth of 120.86% year-on-year. However, sales in May 2026 were down -38.09% year-on-year.

A total of 66,722 units were sold in May 2026, whereas in May last year this figure was 1,07,768 units. Sales fell further to 44,292 units in June 2026. This was a decline of -56.09% in sales compared to 1,00,878 units sold in June last year. Price cuts in major states may have the desired impact on sales in the coming months. Although the price has been reduced, Hero has not taken any cost-cutting measures.

Another notable trend is the increasing pressure on Hero MotoCorp from its nearest rivals, TVS Motor and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India. Hero has traditionally dominated the Indian two-wheeler market, but its lead has shrunk significantly in the last year. While Hero has retained the top spot in domestic wholesales, TVS has topped the overall sales chart in June 2026, and Honda has also led the industry in recent months.

Wholesale data for June 2026 shows how intense competition has become in the market. TVS recorded sales of 5,65,417 units, followed by Hero at 5,41,159 units and Honda at 5,28,281 units. The gap between the top three manufacturers is now around 37,000 units, highlighting the intense competition at the top.

Even the latest vehicle registration data for July 2026 points towards the same trend. Honda currently leads Hero by around 25,000 registrations, while TVS trails Hero by almost the same margin. With a gap of only about 55,000 units between the top three manufacturers, each incremental sale has become increasingly important.

The aggressive price cut for the HF Deluxe Canvas Black could be part of Hero’s broader strategy to strengthen demand in the entry-level commuter segment, which is one of its largest volume contributors. Although Hero has not linked the price cut to market share, the move comes at a time when competition is intensifying and rivals continue to close the gap.
