Tata Motors has released another teaser of the upcoming Sierra EV ahead of its launch on June 30, 2026. The latest video not only hints at the SUV’s capabilities in challenging terrain, but also confirms that the Sierra EV will be offered with Tata’s QWD (Quad Wheel Drive) setup.
The teaser shows the Sierra EV charging through the desert sand, kicking up large plumes of dust and tackling dunes with ease. One of the frames also shows a prominent “QWD Dual Motor” badge on the tailgate, confirming the presence of an all-wheel-drive dual-motor powertrain. This makes the Sierra EV the second Tata EV to feature the company’s QWD technology after the Harrier EV.

Desert Run hints at off-road capability
Unlike the earlier teaser, which mainly focused on the design, the latest video highlights the performance. The Sierra EV has been seen driving on loose desert sand, with some shots showing the SUV preparing to climb steep dunes.
The teaser appears to be specifically designed to highlight the advantages of the dual-motor QWD system. In loose surfaces such as sand, distributing power to all four wheels can significantly improve traction and stability compared to a traditional front-wheel-drive setup. Several shots give a better look at the SUV’s rear profile, connected LED tail lamps and aerodynamic alloy wheel design.

Expected to share Harrier EV powertrain
While Tata Motors has not yet revealed the technical specifications, the Sierra EV is expected to borrow most of its electric powertrain technology from the Harrier EV. It may include battery packs of up to 75 kWh with single-motor and dual-motor configurations.

The QWD variant is likely to be positioned as the flagship variant, offering better performance and traction. If this mirrors the Harrier EV’s setup, the power output could be significantly higher than Tata’s current electric SUV range, with torque figures expected to reach the 500 Nm mark.
Design and Features
The Sierra EV will feature several EV-specific design elements, including a cleaner front fascia with more body-colored surfaces and a closed-off grille treatment. However, most of the key styling cues will be shared with the recently unveiled Sierra ICE.
Inside, the Sierra EV is expected to feature the same triple-screen dashboard layout as the Sierra ICE, along with a soundbar-style audio setup, premium JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate, advanced ADAS suite and an augmented reality head-up display.
With less than two weeks left for the launch, Tata Motors is slowly revealing key details of the Sierra EV. The confirmation of the dual-motor QWD variant indicates that the company wants to position the Sierra EV not just as a lifestyle electric SUV, but also as an SUV with genuine all-terrain capability.
