Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed lower on Thursday (June 11, 2026) as investors remained cautious amid rising tensions between the US and Iran.
According to analysts, trading in the market was also slow due to unabated foreign fund outflow and rising US inflation.
In volatile trade, the 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 73,832.55, down 150.63 points or 0.20%. During the day, the benchmark jumped 875.59 points to hit a high of 74,394.34 and a low of 73,518.75.

The 50-share NSE Nifty closed at 23,161.60, down 53.35 points or 0.23%. The benchmark index hit a high of 23,327.45 and a low of 23,072.05 intraday.
Among Sensex companies, Infosys, HCL Tech, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, Eternal and Bharat Electronics were the biggest laggards.
Mahindra & Mahindra, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Sun Pharma were among the winners.

“IT stocks lagged behind amid concerns that interest rate cuts may be delayed due to stronger US inflation and global financial conditions may remain tight,” said Vinod Nair, head of research at Geojit Investments Ltd.
On Wednesday (June 10), Sensex pared most of its intraday gains and closed at 73,983.18, up 64.42 points or 0.09% at the end of trade.
However, Nifty fell 27.15 points or 0.12% to close at 23,214.95.
