The Kia Syros EV has made its global debut today. This is Kia India’s second mass-market electric SUV. Pre-booking is open across India through Kia dealerships and Kia India website. Customers can reserve the vehicle with a booking amount of Rs 25,000. Ownership programs include Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), an assured buyback program and flexible financing options. These measures are aimed at reducing upfront acquisition costs while supporting resale value during long-term ownership.

Buyers can choose between a 42 kWh battery and a 51.4 kWh extended range battery. These are the same options offered with the Carens Clavis. Battery packs use nickel manganese cobalt, or NMC, chemistry. The battery is IP67 certified and Kia offers Lifetime High Voltage Battery Warranty (15 years, life of vehicle).

Kia Ciros EV range features both battery options

ARAI-certified figures reach 526 km under MIDC full cycle for the extended range version. The 42 kWh battery option offers a certified range of 443 km. The 100 kW DC fast charger can charge the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in 39 minutes.

Charging at home and at work is supported via a 10.8kW onboard AC charger. Drivers can also adjust charging priorities through flexible charging controls. An integrated route planner helps identify charging locations during long trips considering the available battery capacity.

171 PS motor, regenerative braking

Power comes from an electric motor generating 171 PS. Kia says the 51.4 kWh battery version accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.1 seconds. Syros EV is based on the reinforced K1 platform. Regenerative braking uses the vehicle’s momentum to recover energy during deceleration. Drivers can adjust the regeneration level via paddle shifters. Auto mode automatically selects regeneration intensity, while i-Pedal enables strong one-pedal driving in suitable traffic conditions.

Additional technologies include vehicle-to-load capability to power compatible external electrical devices. Digital keys allow authorized smartphone access instead of physical keys. The Virtual Engine Sound System, or VESS, produces an external sound to improve pedestrian awareness at low speeds. Shift-by-wire replaces a traditional mechanical gear selector with electronic control via a column-mounted selector.

The digital feature centers on Kia Connect 2.0 with over 95 connected functions. Over-the-air software updates allow supported systems to receive software fixes without visiting a workshop. Wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay support smartphone integration without cables. Cabin displays include a 30-inch Trinity Panoramic Display Panel that combines dual 12.3-inch screens and a 5-inch climate interface. A wireless smartphone charger and Harman Kardon eight-speaker audio system are also available.
