Chinese electronics giant, Xiaomi shocked the world by foraying into the electric car industry and introducing a great first product at an affordable price. It has been a commendable journey for Xiaomi in this new venture. After the SU7 sedan, Xiaomi also entered the electric SUV segment with the YU7.
Now, Xiaomi is gearing up for the full-size SUV segment as it has launched its third car and first offering under the Skynomad sub-brand. This Xiaomi SUV called Skynomad N90 comes with a range extender hybrid powertrain as well as comfort features like swivel seats, a large coffee table and even a sleeping space.

Xiaomi Skynomad N90 debut
While Xiaomi has two fully electric offerings in its portfolio, the SU7 and the YU7, the company has now launched its first hybrid offering in the form of the Skynomad N90. It is a range-extending series plug-in hybrid and the 1.5L turbo petrol engine does not directly drive the wheels and only generates electricity to charge the onboard battery.
Skynomad is a direct subsidiary of Xiaomi and has now launched its first product N90 which is a full-size hybrid SUV. In terms of dimensions, the Skynomad N90 measures 5,285 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, 1,825 mm in height and has a 3,080 mm long wheelbase. Its weight is 2.8 tonnes and it has 21 inch alloy wheels.

As far as design is concerned, the Xiaomi SkinNomad looks similar to BYD’s Denza N9 at first glance, which has a similar shape and even the name is somewhat similar. However, their wheelbases and silhouettes are different. The Skynomad N90 has a boxy appeal and a luxurious look. There’s a large Skynomad badging in a plaque at the front, flanked by T-shaped LED headlights and even a bulb above the windshield where the ADAS-related hardware is housed.
Innovative, comfort-oriented interiors
It has semi flush door handles, almost rectangular LED tail light signature, great looks and a rear wiper hidden under a large spoiler. On the inside, there is a huge central touchscreen, missing physical buttons, tan finish leather upholstery, multiple sunroofs and more. It has 5-seater and 7-seater configuration options with rotating front seats.

In the 5-seater configuration, the third row is absent and the large gap between the first row and second row can be fitted with a large coffee table. The 7-seater configuration brings powered and reclining second-row captain chairs with their own ottomans. With the front row folded to face the second row occupants, one can turn the Xiaomi Skynomad N9 into a luxury mobile meeting room.
Powering this luxury full-size SUV is a range extending plug-in hybrid system. The primary powertrain element is a 76 kWh battery pack that combines two electric motors to produce 420 bhp and a top speed of 190 km/h. The pure electric range is 370 km and then the 1.5 liter petrol engine starts to generate power for this 2.8 tonne SUV with an efficiency rating of 15.9 km/litre.
