India Yamaha Motor has been one of the most notable premium motorcycle manufacturers in the country. The company also has a few 125cc scooters (RayZR and Fascino) and then a sporty enthusiast 155cc scooter (Aerox). In India, the Arox competes with other large displacement scooters like the Hero Zoom 160 and Aprilia SR 175.
Globally, the Yamaha Aerox is offered in various versions including an Alpha variant with YECVT. Till now, the Yamaha Aerox Alpha was limited to ASEAN countries like Indonesia. Yamaha Erox Alpha is launching in MY26 avatar for the first time in Japan with new colors. let’s take a closer look.
2026 Yamaha Aerox Alpha YECVT
For the first time, Yamaha is launching the Aroc Alpha in Japan, a feature previously reserved for ASEAN countries like Indonesia. Currently, Yamaha offers the X Force and NMax maxi-style scooters with 155cc engines in Japan. When launched, the Arox Alpha will be the third of its kind and will appeal to a sporty scooter rather than a maxi scooter.
For the MY26 version, Yamaha may introduce several new colors for Japan. One of which can be seen in the picture. It is not clear whether there will be Aroks Alpha variants in Japan like Indonesia. Talking about it, it has three variants – Standard, Cybercity and Turbo.
Three colors are available as standard – black, red and blue. CyberCity gets one – Matte Blue Red, CyberCity ABS gets two – Matte Purple Black and White Pearl Blue. Turbo gets one – Elixir Dark Silver. The Turbo Ultimate brings some cosmetic updates to the same colourway. Finally, there is the Turbo 70th livery with its own colourway.
Features and Equipment
As far as design is concerned, the Yamaha Alpha has a unique look compared to the Aroks 155 on sale in India. It is somewhat like an updated version of the India-spec Aroks 155. It gets a unique lighting system, new projector LED headlights, new LED tail lights and LED turn indicators with emergency stop signals.
In terms of features, the Yamaha Erox Alpha gets more than the India-spec model. These include navigation and a TFT cluster with three display modes, 2 riding modes (T&S), Turbo Y-Shift with three throttle modes (low, medium, high), dual disc brakes, gas charged rear shock absorber suspension (something that the India-spec model needs) and more.
Other notable elements include a central spine where the fuel tank is placed, a 24.5L boot, smart key system, ABS, traction control and more. The same 155 cc single-cyl liquid-cooled engine with VVA powers the Japan-bound 2026 Yamaha Aerox Alpha with 15.4 PS and 14.2 Nm. YECVT with Turbo variants also allows the above throttle modes.
Prices in Indonesia start at IDR 29,900,000 (Rs 1.65 lakh) and go up to IDR 39,950,000 (Rs 2.2 lakh). India Yamaha Motor has not confirmed whether the Erox Alpha will launch here or not, but we wish it would.
