Minister TK Prabhu stepped in to grant free school admission to students within half an hour after parents filed a petition claiming that Rs 16,000 was being charged for enrollment of students at a private school called Maharishi Vidya Mandir in Karaikudi.
The parents who filed the petition in this regard told the minister that the fees are being collected in violation of RTE rules and the private school management is threatening to enroll other students if they do not pay the money.
Parents said that after talking to Minister TK Prabhu, the school management followed the RTE rules and admitted the students without charging fees.
