
Toyota Kirloskar Motor reports total domestic sales of 30,159 units in April 2026 Healthy 21.45% year-on-year (YoY) growth Compared to 24,833 units sold in April 2025. However, on a month-on-month (MoM) basis, sales declined by 14.19% compared to 35,145 units sold in March 2026. The strong annual growth was primarily driven by strong demand for Toyota’s SUV and MPV lineup, particularly the urban cruiser Hayrider, Innova HighCross and Innova Crysta.

The Toyota Hayrider emerged as the company’s best-selling model in April 2026 with sales of 9,115 units. Sales almost doubled with a massive growth of 96.36% compared to 4,642 units sold in April 2025. However, MoM sales declined by 10.69% compared to 10,206 units sold in March 2026.

Innova HiCross continued to be in strong demand with 5,602 units sold last month. It registered a healthy growth of 24.66% YoY as compared to 4,494 units sold a year ago. However, MoM sales declined by a massive 28.31%. Toyota Innova Crysta recorded sales of 4,028 units in April 2026, a growth of 25.68% YoY and an impressive 73.70% MoM growth. The continued popularity of diesel MPVs among fleet operators and private buyers has helped the Crysta maintain steady momentum.
Glanza, Fortuner are seeing decline
Toyota Glanza recorded sales of 3,360 units last month, registering a decline of 18.68% year-on-year. MoM sales also declined marginally by 3.17%. The Rumion MPV recorded sales of 2,585 units, a 5% YoY growth, although MoM sales declined by 33.58%. Toyota Tasar continued to contribute good numbers with sales of 2,550 units in April 2026. Sales improved by 5.33% YoY, although MoM sales declined by 9.41%.

Fortuner sales stood at 2,253 units, witnessing a significant decline of 22.42% year-on-year and a sharp decline of 40.63% compared to March 2026. Sales of the Hilux pickup were also relatively low at 304 units. In the premium segment, Toyota Camry registered 199 units, while the Vellfire luxury MPV saw strong growth with sales of 118 units, up 490% year-on-year. Toyota LC300 sales increased to 45 units, registering a growth of 400% year-on-year, albeit on a smaller base.

New products are coming
Toyota is expected to further strengthen its India lineup with several new launches planned in the next two years. The next launch from Toyota India is expected to be the Abella electric SUV. Future plans also include a new generation Fortuner, Hilux and an all-new SUV, possibly the FJ Cruiser. Toyota recently announced a new manufacturing plant in Maharashtra, which will start production of a new SUV in the first half of 2029.
Toyota is aggressively expanding hybrid offerings in India as consumer demand for fuel-efficient SUVs and MPVs continues to grow. Strong hybrid models like Hyrider and Hycross have already emerged as one of the company’s strongest volume drivers.
