Tata Sierra EV has been one of the most anticipated car launches in India, especially after seeing the Sierra ICE on the roads more often. The company has been releasing some teasers confirming some aspects of this much-awaited electric SUV and has revealed most or all of the design of this upcoming EV.

Although Tata Motors hasn’t mentioned the specs, it seems to have been leaked for the first time ahead of the launch. A recent report quoting dealer sources suggests that the Sierra EV base Pure trim level (Persona) will come with the same 65 kWh battery pack as the Harrier EV.

The Sierra EV is all set to launch in the country on June 30, 2026 and will be positioned below the Harrier EV and above the Curve EV like their ICE counterparts. Although it has not been officially confirmed, a recent report quoting dealer sources suggests that the Sierra EV base Pure trim will come with a 65 kWh battery pack.

And higher trims will come with a larger 75 kWh battery pack option. It should be noted that the Harrier EV also offers similar battery options and again it offers a dual motor QWD setup. Tata Motors has confirmed that the Sierra EV will come with a dual motor QWD setup and this recent report mentions that the performance metrics of the Harrier EV will be carried over to the Sierra EV.

The single motor RWD variant in the Harrier EV is rated at 238 bhp of maximum power and 315 Nm of peak torque and the 65 kWh battery pack is rated at 538 km on a single charge. The QWD dual motor variant has a larger 75 kWh battery pack with a range of 622 km on a single charge and a maximum combined torque of 504 Nm.

The front motor is capable of developing 155.8 bhp and the rear motor is capable of developing 234.7 bhp and they cannot be combined together to make 400 PS. If this recent report is true, then more range can be expected with the Sierra EV as it is a smaller and lighter SUV than the Harrier EV.

what to expect?

It is worth noting that Harrier EV is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds. If the Sierra EV comes with similar performance metrics as the Harrier EV, the Sierra EV will also be much faster. For the launch of the Harrier EV, Tata Motors successfully attempted to climb Elephant Rock and the Sierra EV is expected to climb the Tal Moriah sand dunes, one of the highest dunes in the world.

The launch will take place on June 30 and it will directly compete with Mahindra’s BE 6 as well as other electric SUVs in the segment like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki Evitara, MG ZS EV and Tata’s own Curve EV.
