Maruti Suzuki produces two MPVs for the Indian market – Ertiga and XL6. Both of these MPVs were quietly updated in 2025, with rear-centric sheet metal changes to increase head room for third-row occupants. The XL6 has a 7-seater cousin for ASEAN countries like Indonesia and Vietnam.

It is called Suzuki XL7 and for Vietnam, this 7-seater version of XL6 is manufactured in Indonesia. This model is now going to get a major change, which has been seen for the first time during testing. It is not confirmed whether this update will come to India or not.

As revealed in spy shots from Vietnam, Suzuki is working on a facelift for its XL7 7-seater MPV, which currently shares its design language with the India-spec XL6 and this raises the question whether the updated design is limited to markets like Vietnam and Indonesia or it will be included in the India-spec XL6 as well.

For starters, we can see a brand new grille with the facelift. The current model gets a large upper grille and a smaller lower grille below that. Now, the facelift features a single grille area that extends up to the height of the XL7’s fascia. This entire grill area is finished in black plastic finish.

There is a thick plastic element in the middle of the grille, which will house the number plate and below this is a new faux skid plate, finished in silver. At the top, there’s an interesting pattern of chrome highlights, giving it a connected headlights effect, but opinion is likely to be divided among enthusiasts.

The fog lights are now sleeker which can be projector units and they also get new housings. What hasn’t changed are the LED headlights and they have been moved forward. On the sides, we can see the new design for the alloy wheels, but they seem to be black and black and chrome dual-tone finish depending on the trims.

what to expect?

At the rear, things look largely similar between the current and upcoming Suzuki XL7 facelift. The taillights remain the same, but they now get a smoked effect for a sporty look. It looks like the chrome on the tailgate has also been removed. Interestingly, the rear bumper looks similar to the current model.

Inside, there may be updates to features and equipment. Right now, the interior of the Suzuki XL7 in Vietnam is largely similar to the India-spec Maruti XL6, except for the 7-seater layout on the XL7. The same 1.5L NA petrol engine will be carried forward along with the mild-hybrid engine.
