Earlier this year, Skoda Auto India unveiled the Kushaq facelift in Cochin, Kerala and the company also made several announcements at the same venue. While the Octavia RS and Kodiaq RS announcements grabbed the headlines, the more significant announcement was a sportier Kyloq Sportline trim.
Based on the standard Kylaq SUV, the Kylaq Sportline is expected to introduce a new sporty edge to this sub 4 meter SUV and put it ahead of its rivals. The launch timeline was not announced by the company, but now a recent report has revealed that the Kylak Sportline will likely launch in September 2026.
Skoda Kylak Sportline launched
In terms of updates, the Kayak Sportline can be expected to get a similar design treatment to the Kushaq Sportline and Slavia Sportline. Speaking to Autocar India, Ashish Gupta, brand director, Skoda India, has confirmed that the Kyalq will get a Sportline trim in September 2026 with sportier styling elements.
When asked about a possible Kylaq RS variant with a 1.5L TSI engine producing around 150 PS of power, Gupta mentioned that it is under consideration. This is big news for automotive enthusiasts as the Kylaq is already considered a driver’s car and the Kylaq RS with the 1.5L TSI engine will take the excitement up a few notches.

The Kylaq RS is possible as it is based on the same MQB A0 IN platform as the Kushaq and Slavia, both of which get this 1.5L TSI engine. Taxes on India’s B SUV segment favor vehicles with petrol engines smaller than 1.2 liter but we have the Maruti Brezza with a 1.5 liter NA petrol engine and it is performing exceptionally well despite the higher taxes and costs.
what to expect?
Sticking with the confirmed Skoda Kylak Sportline, it is likely to get sporty black exterior elements like gloss black wheels, faux skid plates, ORVMs, black badges and door handles, black roof and more. A sportier spoiler and dedicated Sportline badge can be expected. We hope it will also have a black bonnet. There has been no black bonnet in the B segment since the Tata Altroz Racer (discontinued).
On the inside, expect an all-black cabin with red contrasting elements on the dashboard, red stitching and piping on the seat upholstery, Sportline badges and aluminum pedals. Powering the Skoda Kylaq Sportline to be launched in September 2026 will be the same 120 PS 1.0L TSI 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter.
The Kylaq is currently offered in six trim levels – Classic, Classic+, Signature, Signature+, Prestige and Prestige+. The Sportline is expected to be positioned under the top spec Prestige trims, which is the strategy with the Kushaq and Slavia. More details will be revealed in the future.
