In India, Honda plays it safe in the scooter department as the company had a few offerings that did not sell well. Cliq, Aviator, Grazia, Navi, Activa E, QC1 and a few other scooters come to mind. Globally, Honda has an extensive scooter lineup like the Horizon and one of the latest offerings from Honda is quite an interesting one.

We are talking about Honda HooRide 125 which has recently been launched in the Chinese market. It is powered by the 125cc liquid-cooled eSP+ engine from the PCX 125 and gets the ADV style design language inspired by the Africa Twin. This combination has resulted in a robust and ADV-styled 125cc scooter that boasts incredible practicality and fuel efficiency of up to 47.17 km/l.

New Honda Heroide 125 launched
The Honda Heroide 125 is not currently a global scooter and is designed specifically for the Chinese market. The scooter is introduced by Wuyang Honda, a partnership between Japan’s Honda Motor and China’s state-owned Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC). The company offers both ICE and EV 2W vehicles, including the E-VO e-motorcycle, which was patented in India.

In terms of design, the Honda Heroide 125 looks like it is inspired by the Africa Twin or like the baby ADV 160. It gets twin-pod headlights, C-shaped LED DRLs and a robotic fascia with a tall windscreen (adjustable to 2 settings) with smoked effect. A similar lighting signature has been adopted for the rear taillights.

The front fender looks like it was deliberately designed to mimic the beak of an ADV motorcycle or scooter. We can see a rugged silhouette with angular lines and patterns in the graphics. It is a step-through scooter and has a flat floorboard for practicality. It has a single-piece seat with a stepped pillion compartment.

The fuel filler cap is behind the apron and the 8.2L fuel tank is in the floorboard, leaving plenty of space under the seat. Official information reveals that the Honda Heroide 125 has a large boot that can accommodate two half-face helmets. Matte green seems to be the hero color as it gets the graphics, while white, black and brown are the solid colors.

Features and Specifications
As far as features are concerned, the Keyless Go comes standard in two variants, with TPMS, 5-inch TFT instrument cluster, Type-A and Type-C USB ports, front glove compartment, NFC key card, connected technology and a bar on the handlebar that can be used to mount a phone and camera. Talking about the camera, Honda Heroide 125 can connect to DJI action camera.

Interestingly, the switchgear has a knob that can be used to control the cluster. Components include telescopic RSU front forks, rear twin shockers, front and rear disc brake setup, motorcycle-like 17-inch alloy wheels, 100/80 front and 130/70 rear tyres. The wheelbase is 1315 mm, ground clearance 136 mm, seat height 760 mm and curb weight 125 kg.

The engine is the same as the PCX 125, a 124.7cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled 4V/cyl engine with 11.2 PS and 11.7 Nm, with a mileage figure of 47.17 km/l. Prices in China range between CNY 12,980 (Rs 1.83 lakh) and CNY 14,680 (Rs 2.07 lakh). The Honda Hyride is currently focused on China and is unlikely to be launched in India, even though it may be patented here like the e-VO electric motorcycle.
