
Maruti Suzuki reports strong YoY and MoM growth in April 2026, market share rises to 42.5%
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, the country’s largest carmaker, made a strong start to FY2026-27 with healthy gains in year-on-year (YoY) and month-on-month (MoM) sales. The company sold a total of 1,87,704 units in April 2026, which is 35.33% higher than 1,38,704 units sold in April 2025. Sales were also higher by 12.93% MoM compared to 1,66,219 units sold in March 2026.

Models like Dezire, FrontX, Swift and Ertiga were the biggest contributors to the company’s strong monthly performance.
Maruti Sales Breakup April 2026
Dezire emerged as Maruti Suzuki’s best-selling model in April 2026 with sales of 23,580 units. Sales improved by 38.74% YoY and 11.10% MoM, helping the compact sedan retain its position among India’s best-selling cars. Ertiga registered 20.80% YoY and 11.66% MoM growth with 19,063 units. Frontex also continued its strong momentum and recorded sales of 18,829 units with 31.26% YoY and 21.16% MoM growth.

WagonR and Baleno also posted strong figures. WagonR sales stood at 18,648 units with 39.03% YoY and 9.53% MoM growth, while Baleno sales stood at 18,306 units with 38.89% YoY and 11.68% MoM growth. Swift also witnessed improved demand with sales of 17,829 units, up 22.18% YoY and MoM by 22.58%.
Brezza declines, Victoris adds strong volumes
Brezza was also among some of the models that saw a decline. Sales declined 16.78% YoY and 12.44% MoM to 14,124 units. Despite the decline, Brezza remained one of the company’s best-selling SUVs. The newly introduced Victoris contributed 13,701 units in April 2026, while the Eeco maintained a steady performance with 13,087 units, up 14.42% YoY and 15.48% MoM.

Alto sales almost doubled to 10,856 units, a strong growth of 93.65% compared to 5,606 units sold in April 2025. However, sales were down 5.72% compared to March 2026. Grand Vitara recorded steady growth with sales of 7,718 units, up 7.88% YoY and 14.41% MoM. The biggest surprise came from the S-Presso, whose sales increased to 5,210 units. This translated into a massive 617.63% YoY and 2205.31% MoM growth, primarily due to low base effect.
XL6 sales declined 14.81% YoY and MoM by 10.91% to 3,527 units. Celerio, on the other hand, recorded strong gains with sales of 2,296 units, up 55.77% YoY and 69.70% YoY. Jimny sales increased to 693 units during the month, while Invicto sales increased by 237 units. The Ignis and Ciaz recorded zero sales in April 2026, indicating that both models have effectively reached the end of their lifecycle in the domestic market.
