At its Freedom NU event held in Mumbai on August 15, 2025, Mahindra Auto surprised the world with four new concept vehicles. These were called the Vision X and Vision S sub 4m SUVs and then we had the larger Vision T and Vision SXT. Although these were concepts, testing of a production-spec version of the Vision S has already begun ahead of its debut.

These four concepts, showcased by Mahindra in Mumbai last year, are based on the company’s new NU_IQ platform. It is a modular and scalable platform that also supports multiple powertrains (petrol, diesel, EV). This new platform is pushing the boundaries of innovation and smart features for India and the world.

Production-specific versions resulting from these concepts are expected to be global models that will be sold in South Africa, Australia and other markets. The Vision S has started testing in the country and is speculated to be an extension of the Scorpio nameplate to the sub 4 meter SUV segment with a sophisticated all-four independent suspension and other fancy elements.

Not much is known about the Vision X, Vision T, and Vision SXT concepts. For starters, the Vision It has funky design cues that make it appear as a futuristic and sophisticated offering from Mahindra. On the inside, the Vision
This steering wheel is now patented by Mahindra in India. It’s not quite a circular steering wheel and is slightly inclined towards being rectangular. It has a four-spoke steering wheel with a futuristic look. The rest of the cabin will also be futuristic, with dual 12.3-inch screens on the dashboard, clean center console, two trapezoidal screens for dual-zone climate control and more.

Vision T and Vision SXT steering wheel
Unlike the Vision It has been promoted as the electric concept of Thar Roxx with the T in the name supposedly denoting Thar. It is a 5-door concept with a prominent front grille and a textbook SUV silhouette. The Vision SXT, on the other hand, is like a pickup truck version of the Vision T with a smaller loading bay.
The Vision SXT reminds us of the Bolero Invader of yesteryear and has a bit more character than the Vision T. On the inside, both the Vision T and the Vision SXT get similar interiors, with the Vision SXT decked out in bright colours, while the Vision T takes a sober route. We can see elements like a portrait style touchscreen infotainment screen and a horizontal instrument cluster.
