Honda Motorcycle & Scooters India (HMSI) recently held a massive premium 2W showcase in Delhi. It was here that HMSI showcased 10 new premium scooters and motorcycles for the Indian market. These include the updated CB350 lineup, new CB500, ADV160, Rebel 300, Rebel 500 e-Clutch, QC3 (electric scooter), XR300 Rally and XR300L.
The first of these speculated to be launched was the CB500, for which, some Bigwing dealers are also accepting bookings. However, prices of the new Honda Rebel 500 have been leaked from Bigwing Bengaluru and Bigwing Mumbai websites ahead of its formal launch.
Honda Rebel 500 price leaked?
Last year, Honda Rebel 500 was priced at Rs 5.12 lakh (ex-sh) in India. Now, prices leaked from Bigwing websites suggest that the Honda Rebel 500 could be priced at Rs 5,49,469 (ex-sh). It is not yet confirmed whether this is the leaked price of the standard Rebel 500 or the Rebel 500 e-clutch variant.
This leaked price has now been removed from the BigWing Bengaluru website, but at the time of writing this article it can still be seen on the BigWing Mumbai website. At the recent event in Delhi, Honda announced the launch of the Rebel 500 e-clutch in the country, which will allow riders to experience the ease of riding in cities and then provide manual functionality when needed.
It should be noted that the Rebel 500 listed on the Bigwing website with this leaked price is a standard variant, and not the e-clutch variant. Which suggests that the Rebel 500 E-Clutch will be priced even higher, given it’s premium positioning.
what to expect?
The Honda Rebel 500 and Rebel 500 e-Clutch are premium multi-cylinder cruiser motorcycles with textbook cruiser silhouette and proportions. They provide low seat height and comfortable riding position to allow riders to undertake cross country touring in utmost comfort. The 471cc parallel twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine is rated at 46 bhp and 43.3 Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
It primarily rivals the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, Kawasaki Eliminator and others. It has a retro charm and a unique identity of its own. Honda is expected to introduce a more premium circular TFT instrument cluster, which we saw on the Rebel 300 at the unveiling event in Delhi.
