Kia India reported total domestic sales of 27,586 units in May 2026, registering a healthy growth of 23.6% compared to 22,315 units sold in May 2025. On a month-on-month basis, sales remained largely stable, increasing by 1.1% compared to 27,286 units sold in April 2026.
The growth was led by the Seltos and Carens Clavis, both of which recorded strong gains during the month. The Sonet was a major contributor to the company’s volumes, while the Cyrus saw a significant decline compared to last year’s launch phase.
kia sales breakup may 2026
Seltos once again emerged as Kia’s best-selling model. Seltos sales in May 2026 were 10,597 units. Compared to 6,082 units sold in May 2025, Seltos registered a substantial growth of 74.2% by adding 4,515 additional units. SUVs accounted for 38.4% of Kia’s total sales during the month.

On a month-on-month basis, Seltos sales remained almost unchanged, with a slight increase from 10,566 units in April 2026 to 10,597 units in May. The strong performance shows that there remains good demand for mid-size SUVs despite increasing competition in the segment.
Sonet continues its strong performance
Sonet took the second position with sales of 9,707 units in May 2026. The compact SUV registered a growth of 20.5% year-on-year as compared to 8,054 units sold in May last year. While Sonet remained one of Kia’s volume drivers with 35.2% contribution to total sales, it witnessed a marginal decline of 7.9% compared to 10,537 units sold in April 2026. Combined, the Seltos and Sonet contributed about 74% of Kia India’s total sales during the month.

The Carens Clavis and Carens Clavis EV together recorded sales of 6,208 units in May 2026, registering a growth of 37.2% as compared to 4,524 units sold in the same month last year. The MPV lineup also saw a healthy growth of 13.6% month-on-month, with 743 units added compared to 5,465 units in April. With a market share of 22.5% in Kia’s overall portfolio, the Carens Clavis continues to gain popularity among family car buyers.
Syros recorded sales of 961 units in May 2026. While this represents a strong month-on-month increase of 73.5% compared to the 554 units sold in April, the model declined by a massive 73.4% year-on-year. Kia Carnival recorded sales of 113 units in May 2026, compared to 44 units in May 2025. This represents an increase of 156.8% year-on-year, the highest in Kia’s lineup.
Outlook
With the Seltos crossing the 10,000-unit mark and the Carens Clavis continuing to gain momentum, Kia India’s portfolio remains well balanced across the SUV and MPV segments. Despite a slight decline in Sonet sales, the company maintained stable month-on-month volumes. Kia is expected to launch the new generation Sonet in 2027, but before that they will launch the Sorento and Seltos hybrids.
