It is extremely hot these days in the national capital Delhi and surrounding areas (NCR). People are troubled by humidity and strong sunlight. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has given news of relief. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain and thundershowers. IMD has issued a yellow alert regarding rain. However, the real monsoon is still far away from Delhi-NCR.

When will monsoon arrive in Delhi?
According to IMD, the south-west monsoon has hit Kerala on June 4, 2026. But it will take time to reach North India. Monsoon is likely to enter Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad between June 25 and 30. In such a situation, we may have to wait for about 15-20 more days for monsoon in Delhi-NCR.

Monsoon will arrive soon in Mumbai, rain alert, see weather updates in IMD’s map.

This time the monsoon is expected to be weaker than normal. IMD has predicted below average rainfall for the entire monsoon season i.e. from June to September. Talking about today’s weather, the sky of Delhi may remain partly cloudy. There is a possibility of light rain or thundershowers at some places. During this time, winds can also blow at a speed of 40-50 km per hour.

IMD issued yellow alert for Delhi

Talking about temperature, the day temperature in Delhi can remain around 38-42 degrees. At the same time, the minimum temperature is also likely to remain at 29-30 degrees Celsius. Rain can provide some relief amid the humid heat. IMD has issued yellow alert for Delhi-NCR.

According to weather experts, this rain is pre-monsoon activity, which is happening due to western disturbance and local winds. This will provide some relief from the heat and humidity, but this is not monsoon.

Why is monsoon getting delayed?
According to scientists, due to weather patterns like El Nino, monsoon may remain weak this year. There is a possibility of below average rainfall in many parts of the country in the month of June. Heat may persist for a long time in North India.
