This time the monsoon is expected to be weaker than normal. IMD has predicted below average rainfall for the entire monsoon season i.e. from June to September. During this time, winds can also blow at a speed of 40-50 km per hour.
Talking about temperature, the day temperature in Delhi can remain around 38-42 degrees. At the same time, the minimum temperature is also likely to remain at 29-30 degrees Celsius. Rain can provide some relief amid the humid heat. IMD has issued yellow alert for Delhi-NCR.
According to weather experts, this rain is pre-monsoon activity, which is happening due to western disturbance and local winds. This will provide some relief from the heat and humidity, but this is not monsoon.
Why is monsoon getting delayed?
According to scientists, due to weather patterns like El Nino, monsoon may remain weak this year. There is a possibility of below average rainfall in many parts of the country in the month of June. Heat may persist for a long time in North India.
