Receiving a sporty makeover, the i20 N Shadow Edition retains the 201 hp, 1.6-litre turbo four petrol engine
Hyundai recently introduced the all-new i20 in Brazil with extensive updates. The new model will soon be available in other global markets as well. Earlier, Hyundai has launched a special Shadow edition based on the existing i20 N in Australia. It should be noted that Hyundai’s N models are much fancier and performance-oriented than the N Line models and Hyundai only offers the i20 N in Australia.
Hyundai i20 N Shadow Edition – What’s new?
To ensure exclusivity, only 100 units of the i20 N Shadow Edition will be available for sale. One of the main highlights are the 18-inch flow forged alloy wheels in an attractive matte bronze finish. With their spoke design, these wheels provide an excellent aesthetic to the hatch. The standard model also has 18-inch wheels, although their design is more in line with contemporary styling trends.

The i20 N Shadow Edition also gets new black wheel nuts for a sporty appearance. Another distinguishing feature are the black decals at the base of the doors. Hyundai is offering two color options with the i20 N Shadow Edition – Atlas White and Phantom Black. Five color options are available in the standard version.
Most other features of the i20 N Shadow Edition remain largely the same as the standard version. Key highlights include a front splitter with red garnish, an aggressive grille with N badging, red brake callipers, Pirelli P-Zero high-performance tires and a chrome tipped exhaust.

special internal update
Inside, the i20 N Shadow Edition gets special features like Alcantara trim on the gear knob and steering wheel. Performance blue 12 o’clock markers can also be seen on the steering wheel. Another significant update are the specially designed rubber floor mats that feature a tread design similar to the Pirelli P-Zero tires used with the hatch. This ensures a more robust aesthetic for the i20 N Shadow Edition.
Other features are the same as the standard model. The i20 N in Australia comes equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It has Bluetooth connectivity, built-in satellite navigation system and ‘Sounds of Nature’ ambient audio library. A 10.25 inch instrument cluster is also provided.

Other key features include wireless charging, USB C port, BlueLink connectivity suite, BOSE premium audio system and smart key with push button start. The i20 N in Australia features ADAS via the Hyundai SmartSense platform. This includes Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, High Beam Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist.
performance, pricing
In Australia, the i20 N is positioned as a hot hatch, equipped with a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It generates 201 hp and 275 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The hatch has a limited-slip differential and power is sent to the front wheels. The i20 N Shadow Edition uses the same high-performance engine.

For the i20 N Shadow Edition, buyers will have to pay AU$41,500 (Rs 27.79 lakh) for the Atlas White color variant. The Phantom Black i20 N Shadow Edition is priced at AU$42,095 (Rs 28.15 lakh). The standard model, which is available in a single edition, is offered at AU$37,500 (Rs 25.08 lakh).
