After launching the Tiago EV in the country, Tata Motors is bringing in the big guns in India’s electric car segment with the Sierra EV. It is the 7th electric car from Tata Motors and is without electric counterparts except the Safari and Altroz. The Safari EV is expected to be launched soon as Tata’s flagship 7-seater SUV, while the Sierra EV will be positioned below the Harrier EV.
The company is expected to launch the Sierra EV on June 30, which will mark a major milestone for the brand in its EV journey. Sierra EV has been teased for the first time ahead of its launch. It will come with some EV-specific design elements while staying in line with the overall appeal of the Sierra.

Tata Sierra EV teaser released
In the TVC of Sierra ICE, Tata Motors offered some shots of the Sierra EV. These snippets showed a different look of the Sierra EV with a closed grille. Now, the first official teaser ahead of the launch shows the front fascia of the Sierra EV. However, the image is of a dark scene, making it difficult to make design references to the Sierra ICE.
The Sierra EV has more body-colored elements in the fascia, giving it a cleaner look compared to the large black applique seen on the Sierra ICE. The clamshell bonnet, connected LED DRLs, the most attractive LED headlights in the segment, vertically arranged LED fog lights with cornering lamps are similar to the Sierra ICE.

Even the silver elements like the bull-bar in the front bumper looks like it is shared with the ICE version as well. The highlights of the Sierra EV could be the white ring around the Tata logo at the front, with blue highlights around the Tata.ev badge. There is a good chance that the Sierra EV may come with gray plastic like the Punch EV and Tiago EV, although we hope that will not be the case.
Interior and powertrain
If we take a look at Tata Motors’ EV and ICE counterparts, most of their internal elements will be shared with each other. The few exceptions are the Nexon EV which gets a 12.3-inch cluster, while the Nexon ICE tops out with a 10.25-inch one. With the Sierra EV, Tata Motors is likely to offer interiors similar to the Sierra ICE.

This means a wide range of features like a triple screen layout on the dashboard with a soundbar, premium JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos, extensive soft touch elements, spacious cabin, dual-zone climate control, electric parking brake, powered tailgate, the segment’s largest panoramic sunroof, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, advanced ADAS, option for AR-enabled HUDs, large boot and much more.
As far as the powertrain is concerned, the Tata Sierra EV is expected to borrow the powertrain from the Harrier EV instead of the Curve EV. So, the battery size could go up to 75 kWh, while the dual-motor QWD setup could also reach the Sierra EV with up to 500 Nm of torque.
