Tata Motors has launched the new Tiago facelift at a starting price of Rs 4.69 lakh (ex-sh) for the base Smart MT variant, which we covered in a recent post. Today, we will learn about the second base Pure MT variant, which is a variant from the base Smart MT and is priced at Rs 5.49 lakh (ex-sh) with a delta of Rs 80,000 over the base model.

Kataria Garage YouTube channel has published a detailed walkaround video of the new Tiago Pure MT variant, which gets a number of features and comfort features over the Smart MT variant, making it look like it has been built on cost. For Rs 50,000 more, buyers can opt for the Pure+ variant which adds many more features.

Second base pure variant of Tata Tiago
At an additional Rs 80,000 over the base Smart MT variant, the new Tiago Pure MT second base variant brings a lot of features and equipment. For starters, the Pure MT doesn’t look like it’s a base variant from the outside as it gets body-colour door handles, black ORVMs that are powered and turn indicators on them.

The wheel covers are finished in glossy black for the 14-inch steel wheels with conventional antenna and rear-defogger. The Pure MT variant brings central locking with remote key feature along with a flip key. However, boot release is still driven internally. The headlights are halogen units and fog lights can be fitted as accessories.

Tata Motors has provided an adjustable driver seat and manually dimmable IRVM. All the windows are now electrically operated and Tata is offering Type-A and Type-C USB ports (not 65W) for the front passengers. The steering wheel is the same as the base one, but it gets steering-mounted audio controls with two speakers.

However, there is no infotainment screen on the dashboard. This is because Tata is offering a BYOD audio system in the Pure MT variant, where music can be played by connecting the phone to the car and Bluetooth and audio related information is directly visible in the instrument cluster. The infotainment screen’s placeholders for navigation can be populated from a smartphone or tablet. The pure AMT variants also get paddle shifters.

Features and creature comforts
Also notable are the cooled glovebox, 13-inch spare wheel, manual AC, one-touch up/down window for the driver and the same dashboard and door trims as the top model. Opting for the Pure+ MT for an additional Rs 50,000 adds wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, reverse parking camera, cruise control, ESP, hill hold, traction control, 4 speakers, 65W fast charging, shark fin antenna and a 10.2-inch infotainment screen with ITPMS.
As far as powertrains are concerned, the second base Tiago Pure trim gets all possible engine and gearbox combinations including NA Petrol MT, NA Petrol AMT, CNG MT and CNG AMT. The Sobo Surge color can also be had for the Pure trim onwards, while the Varanasi Vibrance starts from the Pure+ trim level.
