Along with exterior updates and new features, the 2026 Honda City facelift will continue with the existing 1.5-litre petrol engine.
Honda is preparing for the City facelift, which is scheduled to launch on May 22 along with the ZR-V. The updates seen with the City facelift seen overseas are expected to be largely similar to the India-spec version. The latest spy shots provide a clear understanding of the possible changes to the front and rear. Let’s see the details.
2026 Honda City facelift – exterior updates
The new Honda City facelift appears to take inspiration from the brand’s newer models like the Prelude. Compared to the curved profile seen in the existing model, the updated version has sharper lines on the front surface. It looks like the top-mounted format for the DRLs has been retained, while the headlamps may be new or get new details. The front fascia of the test mule appears more upright than the outgoing model.

There is a possibility of change in the grill and bumper section also. Compared to the current model’s mesh pattern, the test mule is using horizontally stacked inserts. These changes indicate that the new Honda City facelift may be aimed at creating more road presence. Not much seems to have changed in the side profile. There are only a few exceptions, such as a more robust set of alloy wheels.
Features carried forward include dual-tone ORVMs with integrated turn signals, conventional door handles and a sloping roofline. At the rear, the tail lamps seem to have been updated with new detailing. The basic design remains unchanged. The bumper reflectors are now mounted vertically on the sides, compared to the horizontal units seen with the current model. Apart from these updates, most other features are expected to be carried over.

New Features, Performance
Honda will introduce the next-gen version of the City sedan in 2028. This could mean a limited number of interior updates for the 2026 facelift. For the Indian market, expected new features include a 360-degree camera. This will be in line with consumer preferences in the security department. The safety kit is already quite strong with features like hill start assist, rear camera, rear parking sensors, 6 airbags, vehicle stability assist and tire pressure monitoring system.

The City sedan is also equipped with Honda Sensing (ADAS) suite, which has features like collision mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist system, lead car departure notification system, road departure mitigation system and auto high beams.
The Honda City facelift is expected to continue with the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 121 PS and 145 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed manual or CVT unit. Depending on the total amount of updates, the prices of the 2026 Honda City facelift may see a revision. The current model is available at a starting price of Rs 11.99 lakh. Honda City competes with rivals like Skoda Slavia, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Virtus.
