
The 150cc-200cc motorcycle segment recorded good growth in May 2026, with total domestic sales rising to 1,92,576 units. Compared to 1,54,536 units sold in May last year, the segment registered a growth of 38,040 units, a year-on-year growth of 24.62%. TVS Apache leads segment, while Bajaj Pulsar emerged as one of the biggest gainers.
150cc to 200cc motorcycle sales May 2026
TVS Apache remained the best-selling motorcycle in the segment with sales of 53,900 units in May 2026, compared to 49,099 units in May 2025. The brand added 4,801 units year-on-year, registering a growth of 9.78% and capturing 27.99% share in the segment.

Bajaj Pulsar stood second with 49,994 units, registering the strongest lead among the established players. Sales increased by 11,685 units compared to the previous year, resulting in a year-on-year growth of 30.50%. Pulsar’s share in total segment sales was around 26%. Honda Unicorn remains at third position With 34,925 units, up from 28,616 units a year ago. Commuter motorcycles registered a good growth of 22.05% in volumes and gained 18.14% market share.
Yamaha’s lineup performed impressively during the month. FZ sales grew by 14.51% to 14,862 units, while R15 sales grew by 63.47% to 9,803 units, one of the highest growth rates in the segment. MT-15 also recorded healthy gains, rising 36.18% to 9,579 units. Yamaha XSR registered 6,587 units and achieved 3.42% market share.

Honda SP160 continued its progress with 4,235 units, showing a growth of 28.57% YoY. KTM’s combined 160cc and 200cc range recorded 3,305 units, up 59.58% over the previous year, making it one of the fastest growing premium brands in the segment. Hero XPulse 200 registered a marginal growth of 7.15%, with sales rising to 2,579 units. Hero Xtreme 160 also saw a significant improvement and recorded sales of 951 units, a growth of 52.65% year-on-year. Suzuki Gixxer contributed 1,054 units registering a growth of 15.32% during the month.
Not every motorcycle ended the month on a positive note. Honda CB200X sales declined by 29.52% to 413 units, while the Hornet 2.0 saw a sharp decline of 69.44%, ending the month at just 389 units. Bajaj Avenger and Kawasaki W175 recorded no sales during May 2026 as against 1,277 units and 57 units respectively in the same month last year.

OEM-wise performance
At the OEM level, TVS Motor retained leadership in the 150-200 cc motorcycle segment with sales of 53,900 units in May 2026, registering a growth of 9.78% YoY. Following this, Bajaj Auto recorded a strong growth of 30.50% with 49,994 units, mainly driven by healthy demand for the Pulsar range.
Yamaha emerged as the fastest growing company Mainstream manufacturers in the segment, cumulative sales grew 56.99% to 40,831 units. The growth was driven by the strong performance of the R15, MT-15, FZ, Fascino-derived XSR as well as the newly introduced XSR motorcycle, which added 6,587 units in its first full year.
Honda reported 18.34% year-on-year growth at 39,962 units, with the unicorn brand remaining the volume driver. KTM recorded the highest growth among established brands, albeit on a small base, at 59.58%, while Hero MotoCorp recorded a growth of 16.50% to 3,530 units, supported by the XPulse 200 and Xtreme 160. Suzuki also remained in the positive zone with a growth of 15.32%, while Kawasaki recorded no sales in the segment during the month.
