One of the most practical large displacement mainstream scooters in India, the TVS Ntorq 150 has opened a new phase in its life cycle in the country. It was widely appreciated for its performance and now it will soon step into the world of racing and motorsports as it has been associated with the FMSCI. let’s take a closer look.
TVS Ntorq 150 goes racing
At the time of launch, the TVS Ntorq 150 was targeted at the mainstream commuter segment for performance-seeking everyday users. Now, the TVS Ntorq 150 has been approved by the FMSCI (Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India) for motorsport purposes and the Ntorq 150 may soon be involved in racing as well.

With this move, the Ntorq 150 is now eligible to compete in motorsport events held across India. Announcing this on social media accounts, FMSCI wrote, “We are pleased to share that TVS Motor Company has successfully enrolled its scooter, Ntorq 150, with FMSCI for participation in motorsport events.
We wish TVS Motor Company all the best and look forward to seeing the Ntorq 150 leave its mark on the motorsporting stage.” FMSCI described the move as “a major milestone in motorsport”. TVS Motor or FMSCI have not yet confirmed what these motorsport events will be for the Ntorq 150.

Other TVS models associated with the FMSCI include the Apache RR 310, Apache RTR 310, Apache RTR 160 4V, Apache RTR 200 4V and even the Ntorq 125. One can expect that a different version of the TVS Ntorq 150 will participate in these future motorsport events with a special focus on performance and sporty dynamics.
Ntorq 125 at NRC events
TVS’s own Ntorq 125 has been participating in INRC events (Indian National Rally Championship). It is worth noting that scooters have been a part of motorsports before and Aprilia is a shining example of this. However, scooters are still considered nascent or niche in motorsports.

In its stock form, the TVS Ntorq 150 is powered by a 149.7cc single-cylinder oil-oil cooled engine rated at 13.2 PS of peak power and 14.2 Nm, mated to a CVT gearbox. The company claims that its top speed is 104 km/h and weight is 115 kg. It will be interesting to see how much of a performance boost the motorsport versions will get and how much weight they will lose.
