Along with the new products, Tata may also introduce facelifted versions of Tiago/EV and Tigor/EV.
Tata Motors ended FY2026 on a solid note with a strong foothold in both the ICE and EV segments. The Nexon and Punch are among the bestsellers and the all-new Sierra is already at 5th position in the 4.2m-4.5m SUV segment with a market share of over 11%. In its Q4 earnings call, Tata Motors provided details about its future plans and upcoming models. Let’s see the details.
All-new Sierra EV launch timeline confirmed
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles MD and CEO Shailesh Chandra confirmed that the Sierra EV will be launched in the second half of FY 2026-27. With global shifts in traditional energy markets, demand for electrified vehicles may increase in the future. With the Sierra EV, Tata Motors can further expand its market share in the highly competitive 4.2m-4.5m SUV segment.

Sierra EV will also play an important role in maintaining and expanding Tata’s dominance in the EV sector. In FY26, Tata EV market share remained stable at 40.2% (vehicles). Cumulative EV sales have crossed the 250,000 mark. The Tata EV portfolio has been expanded to include the Harrier EV and the new Punch EV. The company’s EV penetration is good at 14%.
Test mules of the Sierra EV have already been spotted on road tests. One can expect EV-specific design features such as a closed body-coloured grille and lighting elements and some refreshed details in the front and rear bumpers. The Sierra EV may get some special color options and EV-specific badging.

While the equipment will be largely similar to the ICE version, it may have special features like V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) charging. Technical specifications of the Sierra EV are yet to be revealed. It’s possible that the standard variant could have FWD/RWD, while AWD with the dual-motors could be optional.
Two brand new models in 2026
Apart from Sierra EV, Tata Motors will launch two brand new products this year. Although not confirmed, one of these could be the Avinya Fastback. This will be an important milestone, as it will mark Tata’s entry into the luxury electric car segment. The Aviana Fastback is built on Jaguar Land Rover’s new EMA (Electrified Modular Architecture) platform. As well as having premium appeal, the Avinya will be built for practical applications.

Tata Safari EV is also set to be launched later this year. This will be Tata’s first 7-seater flagship electric SUV that will compete with the Mahindra XEV 9S. The battery pack option may be borrowed from the Harrier EV and a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup may be on offer. It is also expected that the facelift of Tiago/EV and Tigor/EV will be launched this year.
boost production
To manage the increased demand, Tata will increase production in the coming months. The average waiting period for Tata cars is currently around 4-8 weeks. However, for specific models like the Sierra and some EVs, the waiting period is relatively longer. The company is likely facing supply chain issues due to the global disruptions, which have affected the production of models like the Sierra. However, the company has taken corrective measures and plans to increase production of the Sierra to 10,000 units per month or more.
