Tata Motors has released a new promotional video of the Sierra EV conquering the famous Tal Moriah sand dunes in Abu Dhabi, UAE. While the video mainly showcases the off-road capability of the SUV as well Reveals many new details What hasn’t been revealed before is the production-spec Sierra EV.

Harrier EV-derived Terrain Mode and Boost Mode

One of the biggest highlights of the video is the presence of terrain modes, similar to the one offered on the Harrier EV. While climbing a dune, the instrument cluster clearly shows Sand mode selected, indicating that the Sierra EV will likely offer multiple drive modes optimized for different terrains.

Another interesting feature is the Boost Mode. “Boost Mode Active” flashes on the display before the SUV accelerates on a hill, indicating that drivers can temporarily access maximum power and torque when dealing with difficult conditions such as steep slopes, deep sand or overtaking. Along with the dual-motor quad wheel drive setup, these features make the Sierra EV one of the most capable electric SUVs from Tata Motors.

500+km range likely?

Another interesting detail seen in the video is the instrument cluster display Remaining range of 424 km with 80% battery charge. If this figure is accurate and simply represents the estimated range displayed rather than real-time driving conditions, then it points to a claimed full-charge range of more than 500 km, potentially in the range of 530 km.

However, Tata Motors has not yet officially confirmed the certified range, so this should be seen as a hint rather than a final specification. The display also shows an energy analytics screen with power flow visualization between the front and rear motors, confirming the dual-motor AWD configuration in action.

Production design details revealed

The video also takes a closer look at several production-spec styling details. The Sierra EV in the video gets glossy black body cladding, not grey. The steering wheel also appears to follow the Sierra ICE layout, with a gloss black center panel with the traditional Tata logo instead of the illuminated Tata.ev branding seen on new electric models like the Tiago EV.

Other visible elements include the same alloy wheel design previewed on the Sierra ICE and a head-up display, further hinting that Tata will maintain significant similarity between the ICE and EV versions.

Ascent of Tal Moriah demonstrates off-road capability

The promotional film also shows the Sierra EV on one of the world’s highest sand dunes in Tal Morieb in the United Arab Emirates, a location often used to test high-performance off-road vehicles. During climbs, the SUV can be seen using Sand Mode, Boost Mode and its quad wheel drive system to maintain grip on loose surfaces. Several shots show all four wheels working together as the SUV drives through deep sand before climbing a dune.

While Tata Motors has already confirmed that the Sierra EV will be offered with a dual-motor AWD setup, this is the first time that the company has publicly demonstrated its capabilities in such challenging terrain. With its launch on June 30, the Sierra EV is shaping up to be one of the most technologically advanced electric SUVs from Tata Motors, combining long-range capability with genuine all-terrain hardware inherited from the Harrier EV.
