Mercedes-Benz recently introduced a facelift of its flagship non-Maybach electric sedan. We are talking about the Mercedes EQS facelift, which includes several changes in the exterior design, several interior updates as well as a major change in its powertrain. The India launch could happen sometime in 2027. Let’s take a closer look.
Mercedes EQS facelift launched
Where the design is concerned, the Mercedes EQS facelift has retained its coupe-like aerodynamic shape and the air drag coefficient is still low, at 0.20 cd. The front fascia has been revised and it now gets a new grille with illuminated Mercedes logo, updated Digital Light Connected headlights with illuminated Mercedes stars capable of throwing light up to 600 meters.
The front bumper has been modified with a larger air dam and contrasting chrome highlights. At the rear, the EQS facelift features a revised bumper, a more pronounced diffuser and similar connected LED tail lights but with revised LED signatures. There is a duck-tail-like spoiler and chrome highlights on the rear bumper for a sophisticated appearance.
On the inside, the Mercedes EQS facelift promises to be as luxurious as ever with excellent materials, impeccable fit and finish and a luxurious ambiance. This time there is an optional yoke-style steering wheel with steer-by-wire system, which catches all the attention in the interior of the EQS facelift. This yoke allows an uninterrupted view of the digital cockpit.

Merc’s Hyperscreen setup continues with the EQS facelift and still consists of three large displays under a glass panel. There’s instruments for the driver, one for entertainment for the co-driver and then we have the big central infotainment touchscreen. These screens run on Merck’s latest MB.OS software and support OTA updates, AI-enabled MBUX virtual assistant.
Rear passengers also get two 13.1-inch screens for entertainment. With the Mercedes EQS facelift, there has been an update to the driver assistance systems which include Diagonal Parking Assist, Evasive Steering Support and Lane Keep Assistance features. The HEPA filter and heated front seatbelts are also noteworthy.
Electrifying performance, reassuring range
The Mercedes EQS facelift is offered in multiple variants – EQS 400, EQS 450+, EQS 500 4MATIC and EQS 580 4MATIC. The new and updated 800V architecture and reworked drive units ensure a range of up to 926 km on a single charge. This range is accompanied by EQS 450+. Battery capacity ranges between 112 kWh and 122 kWh and power ranges between 367 bhp and 585 bhp.
Only the EQS 500 4MATIC and EQS 580 4MATIC offer an AWD setup. With the Mercedes EQS facelift, we now get a 2-speed gearbox on the rear axle. Regenerative braking has been dialed up to 385kW, an increase of 33%. It also has 350kW DC fast charging, which adds 320km of range in 10 minutes. The air suspension system is now capable of cloud-inputting with data accumulated by other cars.
