Skoda recently took the wraps off its global flagship electric SUV, the Peak, which has full-size electric SUVs like the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Volvo EX90 in its crosshairs. It is a 4.9 meter long SUV which is based on the latest version of Skoda’s modern solid design language. It has a three-row seating layout and promises a range of up to 647 km on a single charge.
Skoda Peak electric SUV launched
In terms of design, the Skoda Peak features an evolved version of the brand’s modern solid design language that we first saw on the Skoda Epic. The butterfly grille has made its way into what’s called the ‘Tech Deck’ face along with vertical LED elements connecting both headlight assemblies. The LED DRLs are horizontal, while the headlight elements are vertical.

The upper grille is closed, but the lower grille has functional air vents, surrounded by large black elements. From the sides, we can see 21-inch alloy wheels with an aerodynamic design. The flush door handles, large glass area, sharp cuts and minimalist sheet metal design without folds and T-shaped LED tail lights that merge into the tailgate are noteworthy.
To reduce visual load, the entire rear bumper is in gloss black and the same is the case with the body cladding. Where dimensions are concerned, the Skoda Peak measures 4,874 mm in length, 1,867 mm in width, 1,664 mm in height and has a 2,965 mm long wheelbase. Ground clearance is 184 mm and boot capacity starts at 299L with all three rows up and then 37L with the frunk.

Interior Design and Space
With the third row seats folded, the boot space expands to 935L, which is larger than any other Skoda vehicle ever made. For reference, the Peak is larger than the Kodiaq in numbers as it measures 4,758 mm in length and has 786L of boot space with the third row folded. On the inside, there is a 13.6-inch portrait style infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a two-spoke steering and very few buttons.

The overall dashboard layout seems to be inspired by the Kodiaq. Notable elements include 10 airbags, 16-speaker Sonos sound system, V2L feature where it can also power electrical appliances, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging pad, multi-zone climate control, digital key, an optional HUD, 360 cameras, sophisticated ADAS suite, auto park, washers integrated into the wipers, and more. The optional Relax package brings powered ottomans, massage seats, a foldable table and more.

Will it launch in India?
Globally, the Skoda Peak will be offered in 3 variants – 60, 90 and 90X. The top-spec 90X comes with a 91 kWh battery, 300 bhp and a dual motor AWD setup with 613 km range. The mid-spec 90 comes with a RWD single motor setup with 286 bhp and 647 km range. Opting for the base 60 variant offers a RWD single motor configuration with a 63 kWh battery, 204 bhp and 459 km range.

It should be noted that Skoda Auto India does not currently offer any of its electric SUVs in India, although we have seen a few of them testing in the country. The global lineup includes Epic, Elroc, Enyaq and the recently launched Peak. However, there is a slight chance of the Skoda Peak reaching our shores via the CBU route.
