In its quest to build the best car in the world, Mercedes-Benz has updated its flagship S-Class with a new look. This facelift has now arrived on our soil and has been launched here as a PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle). It should be noted that Mercedes-Benz is offering the S-Class with a plug-in hybrid setup in India for the first time.
With this facelift, Mercedes is giving the S-Class extensive updates to its exterior and interior. The 2026 Mercedes S-Class S 450e (PHEV) has been launched at a price of Rs 2.2 crore (ex-sh). Bookings begin today and deliveries will begin around Diwali in Q4 2026.
New Mercedes S-Class Hybrid launched
In terms of price, the 2026 S-Class is around Rs 35 lakh more expensive than its predecessor. However, it should be noted that Mercedes-Benz India will later launch a mild-hybrid version of the S-Class (S 450 4Matic), which will bring the ex-SH price to one of India’s most desirable flagship luxury sedans.
On the outside, a gorgeous front fascia is immediately apparent. Notable elements include an illuminated surround around the slatted grille with chrome finished star elements. The LED headlights are now slightly larger and the integrated LED DRLs get a three-pointed star signature. The front grille is now approximately 20% larger, ensuring a more attractive appearance.

The Mercedes three-pointed star hood ornament is now illuminated for that added grandeur. With the advent of Micro LED digital light technology the headlights are approximately 40% brighter than before. There are larger air intakes on the lower bumper, providing a more effective road presence than its predecessor.
The side profile has been enhanced with a new alloy wheel design. At the rear, the new S-Class gets modern tail lamps with a three-pointed star signature mimicking the headlights. Several new colors have been introduced with the 2026 S-Class facelift. Buyers can also take a look at the brand’s exclusive manufacturer ranges for specific colors and trims.
