In India, the new Bayon is expected to be a mid-size SUV offering, positioned between the Venue and Creta
Hyundai is working on the new Bayon, which will be available in India, Europe and the Middle East. The test vehicles have been spotted in India as well as abroad. The new Bayon is expected to make its global debut by the end of the year, while sales could begin as early as 2027. Ahead of this, a new digital render provides a clear view of the SUV.
New Hyundai Bayon – sportier appearance
As is evident in the render images, the updated Hyundai Bayon adopts a more traditional CUV-inspired design. In India, the Bayon is expected to be around 4,200 mm in length. The current Bayon sold in Europe is 4,180 mm long. Similar to other new or updated Hyundai models, the new Bayon has a boxy aesthetic and a more angular profile.
One can also see a more upright front fascia, which adds more visual presence to the CUV. In the renders, the new Bayon gets angular LED DRLs and vertically positioned headlamps. The crossover features a blacked-out grille with horizontal slats and a sculpted bonnet. The side profile features wheel arch cladding, sporty alloy wheels, body cladding and flush door handles.
The window frames curve sharply, while the beltline rises at the rear, merging seamlessly with the roofline and rear pillars. The new Bayon can be seen with black pillars in the render images. Other highlights include dual-tone ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, flush door handles and distinctive sheet-metal sculpture on the door panels. On the rear, the lighting elements have the same basic look as seen on the front. The more upright tailgate indicates the presence of a spacious boot.

Since the new Bayon will be positioned as a relatively affordable mid-size alternative to the Creta in India, it may not get the advanced Plios infotainment and connectivity suite. Expected features of the new Bayon include dual 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment and instrument cluster. For increased practicality, physical buttons are expected to be provided for frequently used controls and functions.
The new Bayon is expected to have OTA updates, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a wide range of connectivity features. The higher-spec variants are expected to get features like head-up display, wireless smartphone charging, keyless entry and ambient lighting. The interior is expected to be more spacious than the current model. Security will be enhanced with a comprehensive suite of Level 2 ADAS features.
The new Bayon is expected to be built on an upgraded version of Hyundai’s K-platform architecture. With improved structural rigidity and new additions to the safety package, the new Bayon could achieve higher NCAP scores. The current model tested in 2021 scored 4-stars in Euro NCAP.

Hyundai Bayon is currently equipped with a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that produces 99 hp. The new Bayon may get a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol 4-cylinder engine, which will be integrated with a 48V mild hybrid setup. This will help comply with stricter emission norms in Europe. The new Bayon may also get a full hybrid option in Europe. This could be a 140 HP powertrain, which will be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
