With the growing interest in the entry-level maxi-style scooter segment, several new models are expected to be launched in India soon
Honda has launched the new Verio Evo 160 in Indonesia at a starting price of IDR 28,525,000 (approximately Rs 1.49 lakh). It may also be introduced in India, although there are other options like the Honda ADV 160. The prices of the new Verio Evo 160 in Indonesia provide a rough idea of the potential price of the scooter in the Indian market. Apart from Honda, TVS is also working on a new maxi-style scooter to take on the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Zoom 160.
Honda Verio Evo 160 vs Yamaha Aerox Alpha – Price Comparison
With the launch of the new Honda Vario Evo 160, the old model has been discontinued. The new version is available in three variants. The base variant with CBS is priced at IDR 28,525,000 (Rs 1.49 lakh). Next is the Vario Evo 160 CBS Nitro, which is priced at IDR 28,775,000 (Rs 1.51 lakh). The top-spec Verio Evo 160 ABS is priced at IDR 31,406,000 (Rs 1.64 lakh).

In comparison, the Yamaha Aerox Alpha is available in six trims and at a higher price. The base Aerox Alpha Standard variant is priced at IDR 30,400,000 (Rs 1.59 lakh). Next is the Arox Alpha Cybercity, which is priced at IDR 30,950,000 (Rs 1.62 lakh). The Aerox Alpha CyberCity ABS variant is available at a starting price of IDR 34,490,000 (Rs 1.81 lakh).

Next up is the Aerox Alpha Turbo Ultimate variant, which is priced at IDR 41,930,000 (Rs 2.19 lakh). The top-spec Arox Alpha Turbo 70th Livery variant is priced at IDR 40,150,000 (Rs 2.11 lakh).

Premium Features of Arox Alpha
The high price of the Aerox Alpha seems justified when we consider its premium features. The Yamaha Arox Alpha sold in Indonesia is an updated version of the Arox 155 sold in India. While both the scooters have the same engine and features like Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), the Aerox Alpha has more advanced features. For example, it has Yamaha’s new Electric CVT (YECVT) transmission and ‘Turbo’ technology.
Other feature upgrades introduced with the Arox Alpha in Indonesia include front and rear disc brakes, an integrated performance damper and a full color TFT display. It is not sure whether this upgraded equipment will also be available with the new version of Aerox 155 in India or not. While keeping the base pricing unchanged, it is possible that the new top-spec variant of the Aerox 155 may get premium features from the Aerox Alpha sold in Indonesia.
