Honda Cars India Limited recently launched the new version of the 5th generation City sedan in the country. The City has been one of the most iconic sedans in the country and has a huge following. The launch price of the City sedan ranges between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 21 lakh (ex-sh). The units have started reaching showrooms even before the launch.

In a recent video by Adi Zone, we can see the new City V MT variant, which is the second base variant in the trim lineup. This is the most affordable variant with Level-2 ADAS and is priced at Rs 13.3 lakh (ex-sh). Let’s delve deeper into the City V MT variant and see if it could be the hottest VFM variant or not.

The City sedan has just been updated with a complete exterior and interior makeover. Even with the second base V MT variant, we get most of the top-spec variants. For starters, the V MT variant gets LED projector headlights with LED DRLs that act as turn indicators. The connected LED bar in the top variant has been replaced by a chrome strip in the V MT.

From the sides, we can see that the V trim has smaller 15-inch wheels, but they are still alloy and not steel ones. Furthermore, they get a dark finish and we can see request sensors on both the front doors and LED turn indicators on the powered ORVMs. At the rear, we see the same LED taillights with a smoked effect in a clear case assembly.

On the inside, the new Honda City V MT variant gets a smaller 8-inch infotainment screen as well as the automatic climate control panel below it. We can see both Type-A ports for the front occupants along with a 12V socket. However, the rear occupants get two Type-C ports. The wireless charging pad is missing here and the same 6-speed manual gear shifter is provided with the V MT.

The steering is also the same and the IRVM is manually dimmable. Front occupants get adjustable headrests and a center armrest. While the top variant gets a sunroof, 360-degree camera, lane watch camera, the V MT variant only gets a reversing camera. Rear seat occupants do not get adjustable headrests, but are provided with a center armrest and rear AC vents.

Equipment and powertrain

The instrument cluster in the new Honda City V variant features two analog dials with a small MID in the middle and the full-fledged Honda Sensing ADAS suite. Boot space is 506L even with the V MT variant. Six airbags, rear defogger and TPMS (deflation warning) are standard with the City facelift. The CVT version of the V trim brings additional features like paddle shifters and remote engine start.

Talking about the engine, the new Honda City V trim gets only 1.5L NA petrol 4-cylinder engine option, which has a capacity of 119 bhp and 145 Nm, which comes with 6-speed manual or 7-step CVT. The stronger hybrid engine is only offered with the top-spec ZX+ trim.
