Honda Cars India continues real-world testing of its upcoming electric SUV based on the Honda 0 Alpha concept. After verification began across India earlier this year, its camouflaged prototype has now been spotted in Manali, providing the clearest look yet at its interior. The latest spy shots reveal a large landscape-oriented infotainment touchscreen with a fully digital instrument cluster, hinting towards a technology-centric cabin.

Big screen confirmed

The spy shots are credited to automotive enthusiast Parth Gupta. While the exterior has been largely kept under wraps, the latest visuals provide a better glimpse inside the cabin through the driver’s window. The dashboard features a wide, freestanding touchscreen infotainment display located centrally, paired with a separate fully digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel.

The touchscreen appears is much larger than The units currently offered on Honda’s India lineup are likely to support wireless smartphone connectivity, connected car technology, navigation and EV-specific functions. There is also the possibility of physical controls for the climate control system. The steering wheel appears to have a refreshed design with multi-function controls, while the overall dashboard layout looks minimalist in line with the globally showcased Honda 0 Series philosophy.

Familiar exterior with concept-inspired styling

The prototype continues to be heavily camouflaged with geometric graphics, although the underlying design is clearly visible. At the front, it retains the upright stance, square proportions and signature lighting elements previously seen on the first prototype. The front fascia features rectangular LED lighting modules attached to a thin black panel, while the rear gets vertically stacked tail lamps and a clean tailgate design.

The tall roofline, huge glass area and boxy silhouette show that Honda is prioritizing interior space along with aerodynamic efficiency. The alloy wheels are hidden under camouflage covers, indicating that production-specific designs have not yet been revealed.

India will play an important role

Honda has already confirmed that this electric SUV will be manufactured in India for both domestic and export markets. The model is an important part of Honda’s future EV strategy despite the company’s recent global restructuring of its electric vehicle plans. Planned to launch in 2027, the production version will compete in the premium midsize electric SUV segment. It will likely compete with the Creta EV and the upcoming Sierra EV.

During the presentation of Honda’s global financial results, global CEO Toshihiro Mibe confirmed that India will be one of Honda’s priority markets along with North America and Japan. Under this strategy, Honda will launch many new cars. In 2026, Honda has already launched the new City, ZR-V hybrid SUV showcased Which is planned to be launched in the coming weeks.

Honda has also announced two all-new India-focused SUVs from 2028, which include a sub-4 meter SUV and a mid-size SUV. More importantly, Honda admitted that its previous global product strategy did not fully address the needs of Indian customers. Going forward, the company plans to develop vehicles tailored specifically for India with an optimal balance of performance, features and pricing, making greater use of local engineering and development resources. Overall, Honda plans to launch 10 new cars in India by 2030.
