Hyundai Motor India reported domestic sales of 47,837 units in May 2026, up 9.07% compared to 43,861 units sold in May 2025. The company added 3,976 units year-on-year due to the strong performance of the Venue, Exeter and i20. However, sales declined by 7.83% compared to April 2026 to 51,902 units.
Hyundai Sales Breakup May 2026
The Creta and Creta EV remained Hyundai’s best-selling products with combined sales of 15,235 units in May 2026. Despite Hyundai being the volume leader, sales growth was relatively modest at 2.52% year-on-year compared to 14,860 units sold a year ago. The Creta accounted for around 32% of Hyundai’s total sales during the month. The mid-size SUV remains the cornerstone of Hyundai’s portfolio, maintaining its position among India’s best-selling SUVs.
The Venue recorded one of the strongest performances in Hyundai’s lineup, with sales rising from 7,520 units to 11,714 units in May 2025. The SUV grew by 4,194 units year-on-year and registered an impressive growth of 55.77%, making it Hyundai’s fastest-growing high-volume model. The Venue contributed almost a quarter to Hyundai’s total sales and further strengthened the company’s presence in the sub-4 meter SUV segment.
Exeter continued its steady growth with sales of 6,595 units, up 11.80% from 5,899 units sold in May 2025. Micro SUVs contributed 13.79% to Hyundai’s total volumes and continued to be one of the key growth drivers for the brand. The Aura sedan recorded sales of 5,077 units, down 2.83% from last year. Meanwhile, the i20 hatchback recorded 4,749 units, a healthy growth of 16.11% compared to 4,090 units sold in May 2025.
The Grand i10 Nios saw the sharpest decline among Hyundai’s mainstream models. Sales declined 32.78% to 2,920 units from 4,344 units sold last year. Verna also recorded weak demand with sales declining 22.26% to 723 units. Alcazar recorded 814 units, a decline of 11.71% YoY. At the premium end, the IONIQ 5 contributed 10 units, while the Tucson recorded no sales during the month.

Most of Hyundai’s models saw a decline compared to April 2026. Creta remained largely flat with a marginal decline of 0.37%, while Venue fell by 5.68%. Exeter declined by 18.54%, i20 by 15.56% and Grand i10 NIOS by 29.62%. Aura was among the few gainers, registering a rise of 10.68% compared to April.
The highlight of Hyundai’s May 2026 sales performance was the dominance of its SUV lineup. Creta, Venue, Exeter and Alcazar together contributed 34,358 units, which is about 72% of Hyundai’s total domestic sales. With the company preparing to launch its new mass-market electric SUV later this year, Hyundai’s SUV-led strategy is expected to strengthen further in the coming months.
