Tamil Nadu | South-west monsoon intensifies; There is a possibility of heavy rain in more than 10 districts
As the upper air circulation and trough area persists, heavy rainfall is expected over more than ten districts around the Western Ghats region of Tamil Nadu from June 21, 2026.
A significant change in the weather pattern is expected from Sunday (June 21, 2026), paving the way for the onset of southwest monsoon, the latest weather bulletin of the Regional Meteorological Center on Saturday (June 20, 2026) said.
Accordingly, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul and Kanyakumari districts and Ghats areas of Tirunelveli district.
The data further said that due to heavy rains, maximum temperatures are also likely to drop by four to five degrees Celsius in many rain-prone districts of Tamil Nadu. – PTI
