At the Freedom NU event held in Mumbai on August 15, 2025, Mahindra showcased four concept vehicles. The Vision S is one of these four and will be the first car to enter production and the sub-4 meter SUV is also undergoing extensive testing. However, the most absurd concept out of these four is definitely the Vision SXT.
It carries the DNA of the Bolero Invader of the past, but is more like a pickup truck version of the Thar Rocks SUV. Now, Mahindra Auto has patented the design of the Vision SXT in India. It should be noted that these patents look like they are of the concept version of the Vision SXT that was showcased last year, and not the production-spec version.

Mahindra Vision SXT Design
While Mahindra hasn’t confirmed it, the SXT could be meant to be a crossover between the Scorpio and the Thar, while the Vision T is speculated to showcase a future electric 5-door Thar. In terms of design, the Vision SXT is similar to the Vision T in many ways. They share the same clamshell bonnet, rugged and boxy silhouette and most of their sheet metal panels.
The Vision SXT gets a unique front fascia with a slightly smaller grille with contrasting gray elements. It features a unique front bumper, unique bash plates and the electric winch and fog lights seen with the Vision T have been removed. With the Vision SXT, we can see the ORVMs being replaced with futuristic rear view cameras and the same is present in the latest design patent.

From the sides, the Vision T and Vision SXT share almost everything except their wheels up to the C pillars. From here, the SXT differentiates itself by providing an open luggage area like a pickup truck. Although the loading bay is not very long like a pickup truck, the idea is not new as Mahindra used to offer the Bolero Invader in the past.
Even the new Duster gets a similar pickup truck version in countries like Romania, which offers a little more utility than its standard SUV version. The production-spec version of the Vision SXT is unlikely to come with two large spare wheels in the boot. Furthermore, the pickup tailgate in the production version is unlikely to be a minimalist and divided unit that you see in the concept.

what to expect?
Like the Vision T, the Mahindra Vision SXT will have a premium and utilitarian cabin with a portrait screen for infotainment and a landscape screen for the driver’s instrumentation. It will have seating for five and is expected to come with all the premium features that befit its segment and price bracket.
The Mahindra Vision SXT will be based on the company’s NU iQ platform, which takes a multi-energy route. This means there could be multiple powertrain options including petrol, diesel, flex fuel, petrol + electric hybrid, plug-in hybrid electric, range extender EV hybrid and even a pure electric version. The global debut of the production model based on the Vision SXT is expected in 2027.
