Mahindra Thar price hiked to Rs 43,500 in April 2026 – old vs new price all variants

Mahindra Thar has been the most sought-after lifestyle off-road SUV in the country since it was first launched in 2020. Mahindra Auto had increased the price of Thar by up to Rs 20,000 in January 2026 and in April 2026, the price of Thar has been increased for the second time. This time, the rise in prices goes up to Rs 43,500 (Ex-Sh). let’s take a closer look.

In line with the price hike strategy in January 2026, Mahindra has kept the base price of the Thar the same, which still starts at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-sh). This is for the base AXT 1.5L diesel RWD variant, which remains priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-sh) even after two price hikes within 3 months.

The biggest price hike comes with the top-spec LXT 2.2L Diesel 4WD AT, which sees an increase of Rs 43,500. The Thar currently has only two trim levels – AXT and LXT. AXT prices have been retained with only the LXT variant increasing in price, depending on engine and drivetrain configuration.

Starting with the LXT 1.5L diesel RWD MT variant, it has seen the least price hike of Rs 30,500 as its price has now increased from Rs 12.39 lakh to Rs 12.69 lakh. A similar price increase has also been made for the LXT 2.0L Petrol RWD AT variant, whose price has now increased from Rs 14.19 lakh to Rs 14.49 lakh. The price of LXT 2.0L petrol 4WD MT variant has increased by Rs 37,500. (All prices ex-sh).

The price of this variant has now increased from Rs 14.89 lakh to Rs 15.26 lakh. The price of LXT 2.2L diesel 4WD MT variant has increased by Rs 39,500, taking the prices from Rs 15.69 lakh to Rs 16.08 lakh. After this, the price of LXT 2.0L Petrol 4WD AT variant saw an increase of Rs 41,500 and its price increased from Rs 16.45 lakh to Rs 16.86 lakh. (All prices ex-sh).

Finally, we have the LXT 2.2L diesel 4WD AT variant, which has seen the highest price increase of Rs 43,500. The price of this variant has now increased from Rs 17.19 lakh to Rs 17.62 lakh (all prices ex-sh).

Facelift likely to launch soon

Mahindra is working on a facelift of the Thar, which is being tested even before the launch of the updated 2025 Thar. This facelift brings exterior cosmetic changes with components sourced from Thar Rocks. These include LED headlights, C-shaped LED DRLs, revised bumpers, larger 19-inch alloy wheels and more.

On the inside, some upgrades like a 10.25-inch digital TFT instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, auto climate control and other features can be expected. Testing has been going on for some time and may launch in the coming months.
