Honda admits global strategy didn’t fully work for India
The biggest highlight of Honda’s presentation was that the company openly admitted that its previous global product development strategy might not have been completely suited for India. The sub-4 meter SUV will mark Honda’s return to the compact SUV segment after discontinuing the WR-V in 2023. It is expected to compete with the likes of Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV3XO, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue. The second model will be in the mid-size SUV category, where Honda currently has a limited presence with the Elevate. Although no technical details have been revealed yet, the new SUV could potentially offer hybrid or electrified powertrain options as part of Honda’s future roadmap.

Apart from these two newly confirmed SUVs, Honda is also preparing to strengthen its electric vehicle portfolio in India. The company has started testing the upcoming Honda 0 Alpha electric SUV in India ahead of its possible launch next year.
