Apart from the partnership with JSW Motor, Chery is patenting several vehicles in India, which could be launched under the JSW brand in the future. Apart from the Jetour T2 patent, we saw a luxury MPV that could be the Exlantix E08 concept, a mid-size crossover SUV, and even a production-spec version of the Tiggo 8.

Now, Chery has patented another vehicle in India, which is quite interesting. It is called the T1TP Concept, which has been patented in its pickup truck version and can also be converted into a 7-seater SUV. let’s take a closer look.

Well-known Chinese car manufacturer Chery has been making a lot of headlines in India in recent times. The biggest headline is that JSW Motors will launch the Chery Jetour T2 in India, marking the beginning of its independent foray into the Indian automotive market. It will be India’s first mainstream plug-in hybrid vehicle.

We wish that the new T1TP concept, which was recently patented in India, becomes more than just an IP protection exercise. We expect something like this to be launched in the country, possibly under the JSW brand. Lifestyle vehicles are a growing trend in the country and a monocoque vehicle with a state-of-the-art ride, but with the versatility of 7-seats and an open load bed, this could be something we never knew we wanted.

Not much information has been revealed about the Chery T1TP concept, but it is placed on a monocoque platform. It was unveiled at the 2025 Cherry International User Summit in Wuhu, China. It was showcased at the event with a rear roof element, which turns it into a 7-seater SUV. Patents in India show it in pickup truck avatar with a stylish roll cage.

what to expect?

In terms of dimensions, the Chery T1TP is about 4.9 meters long, making it slightly smaller than mid-size pickup trucks. Chery has developed a quick-release structure that transforms this vehicle from a pickup truck to an SUV or vice versa. When it is removed, the tub has a volume of 600L and has a few tie down points to secure cargo.

There are adjustable dividers that separate the dual-cab area from the load area, which can allow users to transport longer items if the load bed is not long enough. As far as the powertrain is concerned, Chery is keeping quiet about what will power the T1TP. Speculations suggest that a diesel plug-in hybrid powertrain will be under the bonnet. Chery or JSW Motor have not confirmed whether the T1TP will launch in India or not.
