BMW M440i Convertible Launched
At a launch price of Rs 1.09 crore (ex-sh), the BMW M440i Convertible comes with a host of attractive features to woo enthusiasts and BMW fanatics. Primary among them is the B58 3.0L 6-cylinder turbo petrol engine from the popular M340i, mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. This engine is rated at maximum power of 374 bhp and peak torque of 500 Nm.

The xDrive AWD system is there to improve performance at all four wheels. Claimed performance metrics include 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. The M440i Convertible gets a sporty-sounding exhaust setup with braces in the engine bay for added strength and structural rigidity.

As far as design is concerned, the BMW M440i Convertible gets the trademark full-height ‘beaver teeth’ grille with ‘snake eyes’ LED headlight setup with blue accents. The M440i convertible has two doors and the rear seats can be accessed by sliding the front seats forward. The bumper gets functional air intakes on both sides.

The M440i Convertible gets a soft top (fabric roof) as opposed to the hard top seen on its predecessor, the F33 4 Series. This makes the top mechanism lightweight and the BMW takes 18 seconds to fully open or close which can operate at speeds of up to 50 km/h. Apart from the main window, there is also a quarter glass at the rear, since it is a 4-seater (2+2).

There are 19-inch alloy wheels at all four corners shod with 225-section front tires and 255-section rear tires. At the rear, we can see an intricately designed LED tail light signature along with M440i badging. The rear bumper gives a sporty vibe and has exhaust tips at both ends. The rear windshield looks small, but that’s normal with convertibles.

sporty interiors
On the inside, the BMW M440i Convertible features a minimalist, yet functional layout with a sporty flair. The sporty front seats have been taken from the M340i. These seats are powered and also have memory settings. It has a three-spoke steering wheel with a curvilinear setup with a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a non-touch 12.3-inch driver’s cockpit.

Behind the steering wheel, there is a large HUD setup to display important information on the driver’s peripheral vision. The usual suspects include automatic climate control, wireless charging pad, the latest iDrive system, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and more.
