At a later stage, Ather will also introduce AI powered two-way communication with its scooters
As part of its continued focus on enhancing convenience and safety for riders, Ather has introduced voice command for its scooters. The primary goal is to enable users to complete most tasks through voice commands rather than using their phone or touchscreen. This new feature is part of the Etherstack 7 update.
Ather Voice Commands – What functions can be performed?
Voice command functionality is now available with the Ather 450X, 450 Apex and Rizta Z, which are based on Gen 3 hardware or newer versions. The Ather 450S and Rizta S do not support this new feature. The voice command feature is being introduced via OTA update. Many users have already received this update. The Ather voice command feature is powered by LLM (large language models) and natural language processing.
Ather has ensured that the voice command system can easily understand Indian accents and dialects. These vary widely, and repeating commands can be frustrating. With LLM, the system can adapt rapidly to ensure accurate interpretation of voice commands. The voice commands for Ather scooters are designed to work with the brand’s Halo smart helmet. Users can also access this feature through any standard Bluetooth headset.

Users don’t need to feel limited to using specific keywords, as Ather voice commands are designed to understand natural conversation commands. Commands cover functions in different categories such as navigation, calls, vehicle settings and media controls. For example, a user can order the scooter to “navigate home” or “let’s go to Cubbon Park.” Or they may ask “how far away is the nearest charger”.
Users can access vehicle settings with voice commands such as “reduce brightness” or “maximize brightness.” Similarly, commands can be given to “change traction control to rain” or “magic twist, high”. The scooter can be asked to share the user’s live location. Users can also ask the scooter to call a specific person from the contact list. Media controls can also be accessed through voice commands such as “play next song” or “pause”.
Two-way talks were also planned
With voice commands, users can improve their overall experience. Security has also been significantly enhanced, as users no longer need to use their phones or look at the screen repeatedly. Since the system is not limited to a specific set of keywords, most tasks can be performed through voice commands. Ather is known for its strong focus on innovation, which has helped the brand build a loyal fan base.

In the upcoming update, Ather also plans to introduce two-way communication function with its scooters. This will be an extension of the recently introduced voice command functionality. This will allow for more interactive communication rather than simply responding and executing rider commands. When launched, the two-way communication feature will allow Ather scooters to interact with users, make recommendations and suggestions, and provide alerts and feedback.
