Greaves Electric Mobility’s electric 2W brand Ampere has recently launched the Reo VYB slow speed electric scooter in the country. Because the top speed is limited to 25 km/h, the Ampere Reo VYB does not require a driving license or RTO registration, making it attractive to first-time electric scooter buyers, young and those under 18 years of age.
The recently launched Ampere Reo VYB is positioned as the brand’s flagship slow-motion scooter, slotted above the Reo 80, which is priced at Rs 60,650 in almost all states where Ampere operates. In comparison, the Ampere Reo VYB is priced at Rs 69,499 across all states and comes with a number of premium features and a more desirable design to attract the youth.

Ampere Rio VYB EV
Apart from first-time buyers and youth under 18 years of age, Ampere Reo VYB is also targeted at Tier II and Tier III cities of India with last-mile delivery applications. For starters, the Ampere Reo VYB looks much better and sportier than the Reo 80, which should attract more buyers. There are four colors to choose from – warm white, pastel purple, dark gray and aqua metallic.
The Ampere Reo VYB follows a step-through sporty scooter format with headlights on the front apron along with LED DRLs. On the side body panels, we can also see ambient lighting, which is unique for this price point. At the front, there are 12-inch alloy wheels with disc brake setup while at the rear, there is a 10-inch hub motor with 0.25 kW of power (0.335 bhp) and 35 Nm of peak torque.

Ground clearance is 140 mm, wheelbase is 1310 mm and curb weight is not mentioned. The battery is a 1.44 kWh LFP unit with 80 km IDC range and 80 km is what the company is claiming as its actual range (real world). Top speed is 25 km/h, gradeability is 6-degrees and 0-100% charging takes 5 hours 30 minutes.
Features include reverse mode, LED lighting, LCD digital cluster, keyless go with premium key fob, main stand and 24L under-seat storage. In the press release, the company mentions a battery life of 1,00,000 km, but the advertised battery warranty is 3 years or 30,000 km (whichever is earlier).

Greaves Electric Mobility Statement
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Vikas Singh, Managing Director, Greaves Electric Mobility said, “As India’s urban mobility landscape evolves, customers are looking for sustainable, sustainable and reliable mobility solutions.
With India’s tier II and III cities connecting to the national EV grid and factors such as low upfront cost of low-speed scooters and increase in last-mile delivery, its adoption is expected to increase in the times to come. Reo VYB aims to stand out as a practical option to meet this need. With this launch, we reinforce our promise of building products that meet real-world mobility needs.
