
The Kia Sonet has emerged as one of the most sought-after B segment SUVs in recent times. Sonet recently achieved an important sales milestone where it crossed the sales milestone of 5 lakh units. Now, to further boost sales and make the automatic variants of the Sonet more affordable, Kia India has launched new variants. let’s take a closer look.
Affordable auto variants of Sonet
One of the most premium and best packages in the sub 4 meter SUV segment, the Kia Sonet has been introduced in the MY26 model year. With this update, Kia is giving the Sonet a more affordable automatic variant, making it more desirable than ever for urban SUV buyers.

To boost the bold and youthful appeal of the Sonet, a new Magma Red colorway has been introduced with the 2026 Sonet. Other colors include Imperial Blue, Pewter Olive, Glacier White Pearl, Sparkling Silver, Aurora Black Pearl, Gravity Grey, and also a dual-tone Glacier White Pearl + Aurora Black Pearl. Aurora Black Pearl and Matte Graphite are options with the X-Line.
With the 2026 Sonet, there are more options regarding its automatic gearbox options. It expands the automatic variant lineup of Sonet to attract a wider range of audience. The key figures are the diesel auto at Rs 9.78 lakh and the turbo petrol DCT at Rs 9.9 lakh (both ex-sh), which is under Rs 10 lakh.

The turbo diesel engine with 6-speed torque converter and the turbo petrol engine with 7-speed DCT at a price of less than Rs 10 lakh (ex-sh) are firsts in the entire segment. With the turbo petrol, the most affordable 7-DCT variant is now the HTK (O) and the most affordable diesel 6AT variant is the HTE (O), positioned below the HTK (O) D AT, priced at Rs 10.72 lakh (ex-sh).
By making the automatic variant more affordable, Kia India is stepping up its game in the sub 4 meter SUV segment against key rivals like Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV3XO and others. With increasing traffic, buyers are gravitating towards automatic variants and Kia India is offering them the option where it counts.
