After unveiling it for the Indian market, Volkswagen has officially launched its new flagship SUV, the Teron R-Line, for the country. It is VW’s first three-row SUV in India after the discontinuation of the Tiguan AllSpace. It has been launched only in a fully-loaded R-Line trim. It aims to blend sophistication and sporty attire in one package.
As far as pricing is concerned, the Volkswagen Teron R Line is priced at Rs 46.99 lakh (ex-sh), which is the starting price of this flagship SUV. There are 7 mono-tone colors – Nightshade Blue Metallic, Ultra Violet Metallic, Oryx White Mother of Pearl Effect, Granadilla Black Metallic, Oyster Silver Metallic, Dolphin Gray Metallic and Cipressino Green Metallic.
Volkswagen Teron R Line Launch
The Teron R Line is positioned as its flagship offering in India and will rival the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and others. The Teron R-Line has been launched in the country via the CKD route, with the assembly operations taking place at its Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility in the state of Maharashtra.
Once a China-specific nameplate, the Teron is now being positioned as the successor to the Tiguan AllSpace. The 2026 Volkswagen Teron measures 4,792 mm in length, 1,866 mm in width, 1,665 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 4,792 mm. It’s somewhat like a long wheelbase version of the Tiguan.
The exterior design is typical VW with the new IQ design language. Notable features include smart and adaptive IQ HD matrix headlights, 19-inch Coventry alloy wheels, strong shoulderline, dynamic character lines on the sides, connected LED tail lights and illuminated VW logos at the front and rear with connected LED DRLs, welcome lights and more.
Premium Interiors
The tailgate is powered and the boot volume can go up to 1,905L. On the inside, the VW Tayron R Line features exclusive Ergo Active front seats that are 12-way power adjustable, cooled, heated and have 8 massage functions and 3 memory settings. They also get contrasting purple highlights for a visual pop.
Sliding and reclining second-row seats, panoramic sunroof, rear sun shades, third-row seats for versatility, three-zone climate control, rich ambient lighting, 15-inch free-standing infotainment screen, fully digital cockpit, augmented reality HUD, 700W Harman Kardon speakers, 9 airbags as standard, Level-2 ADAS with 14 autonomous features and others The features are also noteworthy.
Powering the Volkswagen Teron R Line is the same 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo petrol EVO4 engine that also powers the Golf R and Tiguan R Line. This engine is rated at 204 PS of maximum power and 320 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 7-speed DSG. The Teron R Line is capable of accelerating to 100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds. The 4Motion AWD system, Driving Profile and Park Assist Plus are also notable equipment.
