In the 4.5 meter to 4.8 meter SUV segment, Mahindra XUV7XO is currently the second best selling model with a market share of over 23%.
Mahindra had introduced the all-new XUV7XO earlier this year in January. So far, the focus has been on introducing top variants like AX7, AX7L and AX7T. Mahindra has now started dispatching the base AX variant as well. We can see the detailed description of the base AX variant on the Fuel Injected YouTube channel.
Available only with a 6-speed manual transmission, the XUV7XO AX petrol and AX diesel variants are priced at Rs 13.66 lakh and Rs 14.96 lakh respectively. A walkaround video provides a full 360° view of the AX diesel variant and describes its key features.

XUV7XO AX Diesel – Exterior Features
Across the front fascia, the XUV7XO base variant shares many of its features with the higher-spec variant. Highlights include bi-LED projector headlamps with integrated DRL, follow me headlamp function, signature grille in gloss black finish and silver garnish on the front bumper lower lip. However, the base AX variant misses out on many functional goodies like ADAS radar, front camera, parking sensors, LED fog lamps and cornering lights.
The XUV7XO base variant gets 17-inch steel wheels in black finish. These come with silver finished wheel covers. For the larger 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, users will have to opt for the AX7 or above variants. The top variant has 19-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. The base variant gets flush door handles, although these do not open automatically. The window line gets a gloss black finish.

ORVMs are electrically adjustable but do not turn electrically. At the rear, key features include a shark fin antenna, roof-mounted spoiler and LED taillights. There aren’t many functional items available at the back either. These include rear washer, wiper and defogger along with rear camera.
Interior and Equipment
Even with the base variant of the XUV 7XO, Mahindra is offering a wide range of premium features. Highlights include a coast-to-coast triple screen layout with three 12.3-inch screens. The base variant comes with a 6 speaker audio system, Adrenox, smart watch connectivity and Alexa built-in with ChatGPAT. Additionally, there’s wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Type-C and Type-A charging ports, and a third-row 12V charging port.

The XUV 7XO base variant features front armrest with storage, manually dimmable day and night IRVMs, micro hybrid technology and rear AC vents (second and third row). It has electric power steering, push button start, tire position display, all 4 power windows and steering mounted controls and even cruise control. Users can expect a comfortable ride with the DAVINCI suspension system.
The safety kit is quite strong with features like six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control system, hill hold control, hill descent control and cruise control. However, the base AX variant lacks ADAS with auto headlights and rain-sensing wipers, which are available with the higher variants.
Overall, the XUV 7XO AX base variant offers premium technology and covers most of the essential safety features. Engine options are the same as the top variant, although automatic transmission is not available with the base variant. For budget-oriented customers, the XUV 7XO AX base variant seems to be a good option. Those wanting more premium features should consider the AX7 and higher variants.
