
Hyundai’s next-generation i20 has been leaked online ahead of its official global debut, revealing a dramatically redesigned hatchback with crossover-inspired styling and an all-new interior. The new model is expected to be officially unveiled in the coming days while the launch is expected to take place later this year. it will happen eventually replace the current generation i20 Sold in global markets.
The leaked images show both the exterior and interior in production-spec form, highlighting Hyundai’s latest design direction for the premium hatchback. Compared to the current i20, the new model appears more straightforward, robust and technology-focused.

2027 i20 is more SUV-like than before

All-new interior with panoramic display
An even bigger change can be seen in the cabin. The leaked images reveal a new dashboard layout centered around a large panoramic display that combines the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen within a single housing (like the new Venue). The physical controls for key functions have been retained, while the center console adopts a cleaner and more modern design.

The steering wheel is also new and seems to be inspired by Hyundai’s latest global models. The door pads feature a refreshed dual-tone treatment with circular speaker elements and redesigned grab handles. Hyundai has also worked on the overall dashboard architecture to create a more premium cabin experience.

The leaked photos also reveal the luggage compartment. The boot area looks spacious and practical, while the rear seats continue with a split-folding arrangement to improve cargo flexibility. The taller roofline and boxier proportions should also translate into better headroom and cabin space than the outgoing model.

Powertrain options expected
While Hyundai has not yet revealed the technical specifications, the 2027 Hyundai i20 is expected to continue with internal combustion engines in the global markets. International versions may feature updated turbocharged petrol engines with mild-hybrid technology to meet stricter emissions regulations.

Market-specific engine options will vary depending on regional requirements. Hyundai is expected to continue to focus on efficient petrol powertrains while improving overall refinement and fuel efficiency. In India, it is likely to get the same 1.2 liter NA and 1.0 liter turbo petrol engine options.
