The Rock in Rio special edition of the T-Cross in Brazil focuses primarily on cosmetic touch-ups associated with the popular music festival.
Volkswagen has a long-standing association with the Rock in Rio multi-day music festival held in Rio de Janeiro. Every time the brand is an official sponsor of an event, the launch of a new special edition is almost certain.
In 2026, the focus is on the T-Cross (Indian Taigun), the best-selling SUV in Brazil. The Rock in Rio special edition of the T-Cross will be showcased as the official car of the festival. The festival will be held from September 4 to September 7 and the following weekend from September 11 to September 13.

Volkswagen T-Cross Rock in Rio Special Edition – What’s New?
With the Rock in Rio special edition of the T-Cross, the focus has been on enhancing the visual appeal of the SUV. Although this special edition is based on the entry-level range, it gets the same styling updates usually seen on the top variants of the T-Cross. The main objective is to connect the SUV with the world of music, which is at the heart of the Rock in Rio festival.
On the front, one of the key features is the full-width LED light bar. This feature is generally only available with higher-spec variants of the T-Cross in Brazil. The ORVMs and door handles have been blackened for a sporty appearance. Color options for the T-Cross Rock in Rio include Ninja Black, Sunset Red, Platinum Grey, and Ascot Grey.

The latter three are essentially dual-tone colourways, with a blacked-out roof in Ninja Black shade. The inclusion of Ascot Gray is notable, as this color is generally available with the top-spec T-Cross Extreme trim. Exterior highlights of the T-Cross Rock in the Rio special edition include 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels in dark finish.
These are wrapped in a puncture resistant seal inside the tyres. Tires have a layer of internal sealant, which can effectively handle small punctures by reducing air pressure loss. Festival-inspired decorations include the official ‘Rock in Rio’ logo on the front doors and boot lid. The electric guitar logo can also be seen on the rear pillars.

internal updates
Inside too, the official Rock in Rio logo is used on the dashboard and front seats. The special edition also gets special upholstery, featuring new detailing and contrasting stitching. Another major update is the addition of six speakers to the T-Cross Rock in Rio special edition.
Based on the entry-level range, the T-Cross Rock in Rio special edition uses a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged flex-fuel engine. It generates 128 hp and 200 Nm of torque and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The other engine option available with the T-Cross in Brazil is a 1.4-litre unit. It produces 148 hp and 250 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Linked to the music festival, the pricing for the Rock in Rio special edition of the T-Cross is also celebratory. Volkswagen is not asking for any premium. The special edition is available at R$142,990 (Rs 26.31 lakh), which is the same as the corresponding standard edition. This ensures that buyers don’t have to think twice about choosing the special edition.
