
India’s three wheeler segment recorded good year-on-year growth in April 2026, according to the latest retail sales data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). Demand remained strong in both urban and rural markets, especially for electric three wheeler and passenger carrier applications.
Electric three-wheelers continued to dominate the market with 60.38% share, followed by CNG/LPG vehicles with 25.05%. Diesel’s share was 14.16%, while petrol and ethanol models contributed a nominal 0.42%.

Total three-wheeler retail sales stood at 1,06,908 units in April 2026, up 7.19% compared to 99,741 units sold in April 2025. However, on a month-on-month basis, sales declined by 2.61% compared to 1,09,777 units sold in March 2026. Segment-wise, e-rickshaw with cart sales stood at 7,742 units. With 3.69% YoY growth. Three-wheeler goods carriers recorded sales of 27.23% to 13,133 units, while passenger carrier sales increased by 36.48% to 57,767 units.
3W Retail Sales April 2026
Bajaj Auto maintained its leadership position in the three wheeler segment with retail sales of 39,527 units in April 2026. The company reported a year-on-year growth of 21.10% at 32,639 units sold in April 2025. Market share increased to 36.97%. Mahindra took the second position with sales of 10,855 units, registering a strong growth of 72.91% YoY as compared to 6,278 units sold last year. Market share increased from 6.29% to 10.15%.

Piaggio recorded retail sales of 8,078 units, up 26.95% from 6,363 units sold in April 2025. TVS Motor also registered healthy growth with sales of 5,373 units, up 70.57% from 3,150 units sold during the same month last year.
Atul Auto reported sales of 2,649 units in April 2026, registering a growth of 31.20% year-on-year. However, many electric three wheeler manufacturers saw a decline in sales compared to last year. YC Electric sales declined 42.60% year-on-year to 1,932 units, while Saira Electric sales declined 22.59% to 1,388 units. Delhi Electric’s sales declined 24.52% to 1,327 units, while JS Auto’s sales declined 10.61% to 1,078 units.

Other OEMs collectively contributed 34,701 units to the total three-wheeler retail sales, though this was down from 41,169 units sold in April 2025. On a MoM basis, most brands reported lower sales compared to March 2026. Bajaj sales declined by 3.97%, Piaggio declined by 6.54%, TVS declined by 3.07% and Atul Auto declined by 12.34%. Mahindra was one of the few brands to register positive MoM growth, with sales growing 8.95% in March 2026.
