Apart from praise for its dark comedy narrative, the film is also being praised for Tripti’s brilliant turn, who has once again personified female anger on screen.
And this is not the first time he has done this. From romance, folkloric horror, psychological dramas and social dramas, he has changed gears again and again without settling into a single screen persona. Here are five performances that showcase his acting range.

Trupti’s breakthrough lead role came as Laila, a young woman caught between passion and rebellion in a love story that moves towards self-destruction. Based on the popular folklore about two lovers Laila and Majnu, Sajid Ali’s 2018 film depicts Laila as impulsive, emotionally unfiltered and driven by a love that borders on obsession.
Dimri plays her not as a traditional romantic heroine but as someone who is unstable, defiant and ultimately consumed by the intensity of her emotions. What makes Tripti’s performance different is the rawness. This is why the role has moved into cult territory despite its slow performance at the box office. The film was re-released in theaters in 2024 and outgrossed its original theatrical run.

in Anvita Dutt NightingaleTrupti plays the lead character: a child bride who becomes a victim of a patriarchal society. Bulbul starts off quiet and restrained, but the character transforms into something more symbolic: a woman reclaiming agency in a world that has repeatedly violated her. The performance is based on restraint in the first part and controlled anger in the second part.
This is where Trupti’s expressive yet minimalist approach comes into play. Much of Bulbul’s power is communicated through gaze, posture, and silence rather than through dialogue. Her performance during a particular domestic violence scene will break your heart.

As Kala Manjushree, Trupti steps into the role of a talented singer trapped in the cycle of recognition and maternal pressure, which eventually causes her psychological breakdown.
Also directed by Anvita, Start Explores the inner workings of the protagonist’s mind. As ambition and insecurity collide, Kaala’s fragility is slowly exposed. And Tripti is unique in its depiction of this disintegration into madness. His performance avoids overt melodrama, even when the character is in the most untenable position. Instead, stress arises from subtle changes in behavior. This is technically one of his most restrained performances.

In Dhadak 2Trupti plays Vidhi Bhardwaj, a Brahmin college student whose relationship with a Dalit man gets entangled in ugly caste-based politics.
The 2018 Tamil film periyaram perumal, From which Shazia Iqbal’s social drama is inspired, the female lead is not given much agency, Vidhi is not written as a passive romantic lead. She not only deals with the realities of caste hierarchy around her, but also fights against the patriarchy established in her home.
Tripti’s performance works because it avoids exaggeration; Resistance to the method seems grassroots rather than dramatic. Especially her crying in pain in the climax – it’s heartbreaking.

Set in a darker, more stylish action-thriller space, Trupti plays Afsha Qureshi/Rani Sharma, a widow who is willing to go to any extent to avenge her husband’s murder.
Although she works in a larger-than-life narrative, Tripti doesn’t let her performance be overshadowed by theatrics. He is disheveled, unstable and unstable, yet determined in his goal: revenge. Tripti moves easily between vulnerability and confrontation and is in control of every frame in which she exists.
