
The GTI versions of Volkswagen’s popular vehicles have been sensational and well received by buyers. These have always been sportier and more powerful versions of their standard counterparts. However, GTI versions have always been ICE vehicles, with rumbling engines and throaty exhaust.
That has now changed, as the company has introduced its first all-electric GTI model. We are talking about the recently unveiled Volkswagen ID Polo GTI all-electric vehicle, which is claimed to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. let’s take a closer look.

Volkswagen ID Polo GTI EV revealed
The ID Polo has been one of Volkswagen’s popular offerings since it is based on the Polo badge. Now, the ID Polo is just a GTI version, which is a high-performance version of the standard model. The company intends to launch it in Germany in the autumn of 2026 at a price of less than EUR 39,000, which is approximately Rs 43 lakh.
In terms of design, the VW ID Polo GTI has several unique features to differentiate it from the standard ID Polo. These include more aggressive front and rear bumpers, a red stripe above the front bumper for its GTI identity, GTI badges, a new rear roof spoiler with a clear split in the middle, new 19-inch alloy wheel design and more.

Additionally, the VW ID Polo GTI is the only one to get a revised LED matrix headlight system, which is more sophisticated than its standard model. On the inside, the ID Polo GTI gets a black and red theme with multiple GTI badges and contrasting red stitching and more. Additionally, there is a silver trim in the middle of the dashboard.

Apart from these, there are no changes in the cabin and the ID Polo GTI gets a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, 10.25-inch TFT cluster, dual zone climate control, wireless charging pad along with optional features like 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, powered and massaging front seats, fixed panoramic glass roof and more.

More performance!
The GTI is all about performance and driving thrills and the VW ID Polo GTI does not disappoint in this regard. Compared to the standard ID Polo, the GTI version is rated at 226 bhp and 229 Nm, with a claimed 0-100 km/h acceleration of 6.8 seconds. Top speed is 175 km/h. Powering this motor is a 52 kWh battery pack, which is also offered with the standard model, promising a slightly lower range at 424 km.

The peak DC fast charging speed can go up to 105kW, ensuring 10%-80% SOC in 24 minutes. The ID Polo GTI comes as standard with Adaptive Dampers (Dynamic Chassis Control). Plus, there’s the clever electronic locking front diff, borrowed straight from the Golf GTI (ICE).
